I'm a great fan of Pendraken Miniatures, but this time I have to complain.
The lack of pictures on the homepage sometimes leads to well.. "unexpected" results when opening the latest parcel from pendraken. Almost all pictures of the WW1 range show infantry with bayonets, so I thought that this is the rule and not the exception. Now I have dozends of Austrians and Russians without bayonets.
Seriously, I hardly know any contemporary picture where advancing Russians are depicted without bayonets (no wonder, because they were permanently fixed..), same goes for the Austrian infantry. On the other hand, the kneeling/firing poses have bayonets?! Really a great pitty here, don't know yet what to do with these figs now.
Maybe I should have asked, but this really came unexpected. I mean, who makes Russians without cold steel to drive the invaders out of mother Russia? That just doesn't make sense :-/
As Russains were not issed with scabards the defalut would be fixed bayonets.

Well, that's why I was wondering why -out of all- the Russians have none on their rifles ;)
The lack of pictures is a perrennial problem.
Even here on Pendraken i don't buy anything without seeing it first. Hence there are a lot of Pendraken minis i won't be buying for a while... :'(
As for the problem of WWI Russians lacking bayonets...well...a lot of them weren't even issues rifles! They were given orders to advance behind the riflemen and capture arms from dead Germans...
Apologies for the problem, and the lack of pictures on the website. I know I keep saying, but we really are trying our best to get more on there. The move to the unit should hopefully help with that.
On the Russian figures themselves, they were sculpted a long time ago now, so I couldn't tell you what the source info used was. If you can't use them, it's no bother to return them? I can't think of any suitable substitutes for them, so we would have to find the original master mould and add bayonets to some master figures.
:(
Leon,
It's answers like that which make me love Pendraken!
Fantastic.

Hey Leon,
A big thanks for your reply! I've also thought about possbile alternatives and I think I'll end up with the biggest head swap in 10mm history ;)
The WW2 Russians look excellent and I think they'll do the job quite fine, so the problem is solved i guess.

So no need to recast the figures, I'll simply order a batch of Soviets instead. ;)
Concerning the hp pics: I've got loads of your figures which lack pictures, would be no problem to do some for you (even painted ones).
OK then, although I don't envy the job of all those headswops! Send me an email of how many WW2 Russians you need, and we'll send them out for you.

I might take you up on that offer. I have some other pics from other customers which I need to get uploaded to the website, so once I have gone through those, then I will see what I need next.

Thank you Leon! As I've been working as a dental technician for many years, I'm more than used to such smale scale operations..shouldn't be that of a problem.
Concerning the pics: I've got Ww1 (surprise surprise..), Late Romans/Sassanids, Nap Austrians, 1866 and some SYW figures here..so if any of those haven't been photographed I could help you out there.

Excellent, I'll get in touch when I'm ready for more painted pics.
And good news on the conversions, at least you'll have some small drills handy!
Let me know on the Russians.
