Let me start this post with making one thing clear. What you are about to see in THIS post is the work of Andy Mac. Again, this is Andy's work, NOT mine. Everyone clear? Good, now on to the eyecandy. ;D
Matt and I have been talking about doing AWI for a while, but since he can't paint for peanuts I'd end up doing his figures too. Because I've got so many other projects on the go, I really couldn't face painting a load of regimented figures at the moment and I wanted quick progress to getting figures on the table. Having seen Andy's work, I knew there was really only one painter I could use. I will be painting some of the units myself, but at a leisurely pace I assure you!
Here's some shots he's just sent over and I'm just so happy with them I have to share them with you guys.

stunning work! I really should consider adding those litte white stripes to the uniforms of my infantry, looks like it's definitely worth the few minutes of extra painting time
Nice one Andy! :D
A joy to behold. Thanks for posting Gavin
Just the job Gav! These will look beautiful once they're based and under fire on-table 8)
Beautiful !! =D> =D>
Cheers - Phil.
Really NICE
Again an excelent work¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ ;)
Best Regards
Terrific. Just shows what can be acheived with 10mm figures. 8)
Just posted on my blog but here's a couple of pictures, couple more on the blog http://www.britishforces.org.uk/new-project-and-some-pictures (http://www.britishforces.org.uk/new-project-and-some-pictures). Hessian Jaegers painted by myself. I hope they'll match in ok with Andy's work - one of the reasons I wanted Andy to paint for me is that I think he has a similar style to myself (although better than mine).

Those will blend in nicely - superb work! 8)
Very nice!
Excellent! 8)
I like those.
Very nicely done indeed Gav 8)
I know Leon's already seen these elsewhere, but figured they should be posted here too. ;D
This makes 1 down, 7 to go for the units that I need to paint for the Pendraken Birthday Bash. No pressure then! :'(

Not sure these are really all that good but they're going to have to do. They're supposed to be the Fairfax County Independant Company (my mates figures - I'm just painting them) so let me know if there's any glaring issues.
I also have finally photo'd a couple of generals that I've got done.

Hopefully there'll be more progress this week than last.
Love them!
One word for those generals -SUPERBISSIMUS!

Looking lovely Gav 8)
Fantastic ! 8)
Grreat work, Gavin. 8)
Thanks for all the kind words. Saturday GM came over and we had a rehearsal game which involved too many empty bases to show here, but it did serve as a real motivator both in seeing the size of the task ahead and giving a taste of the game we'll be playing too. As a result, yesterday I got this unit of Morgan's Rifles finished and today I managed to get the two bases of artillery done that we were still short.
Only a couple of poor pics I'm afraid as I'm getting ready to base and will take much better pictures then.

Hit the nail on the head there, those are lovely! :D Superb terrain too! 8)
Looking great Gav 8)
Nice work Gav, what blue you using on the Fairfax County chaps, looks good.
Cheers

Tiny Terrain Models
Looking for my tips now are ye? ;D ;D
They're either GW Regal blue with Vallejo Prussian Blue over the top, or VJ Dark Prussian blue and VJ Prussian Blue. There's a mix, but to be honest you can't tell the difference and I couldn't tell you which is which!
Really nice - I will have to delve into AWI one day - maybe your game at the birthday bash will be the catalyst! - No Pressure :)
Just posted some pictures to my blog but here's a couple here for you guys. The Militia and British Infantry are of course Andy Mac's painting not mine.

Gav,
I envy you being able to produce such a good match with Andy Mac's work, I would love to be able to do that. Great work!

Excellent, I'm looking forward to seeing these next weekend! I've actually just finished the floorplan, and I've put your table near to Andy's Painting table.
Very nicely done 8).
What they all said ^^ :D
Just terrific, man. You can compete with the very best 10mm painters around. And that battle must be sheer joy with such miniatures.
Cheers,
Aart

Excellent news, we've still got a few battalions to complete so if Andy can turn up early and get them sorted for us that will be great :)
Your forces are looking excellent now Gavin. I've finished painting all figures - just got flags and basing to do now....
Yeah, Flags. :-\ :-\ Think I might print a few out at work today and dry fit them for the weekend as half these troops aren't mine of course so Matt can do his own stinking flags.
I've finished off a few things on my to do list this week or so.
One of them was the 10mm AWI unit I've been working on for a while. Pretty pleased and annoyed with these at the same time. Unfortunately, the castings are not great, these are the only useable sculpts from the bag of 30 + bag of 15 command. Many of the figures are missing parts of their hats, as you can see in the fourth picture (chap pointing - this is the "best" of the bad bunch!), and part of the drummers hat is missing too. This is why there are so many bareheaded soldiers in the unit.

Can you pop me an email through on that, and I can find out what's happened and get some replacements sorted out.
Wow nice, any tips on painting these...found AndyMac guide, so will start painting soon.
Very nice!

Yeah, use a small brush and some paint ;D ;D
Seriously, you can't go much wrong with Andy Mac's guide. My painting is very similar, except I tend not to highlight quite as much as he does (and you can tell the difference!) What I mean by that is that the crossbelts for example are just white, Andy would have used grey then white.
Colour wise, undercoated in Black, the jackets are Vallejo (VJ) Dark Prussian Blue followed by VJ Prussian blue, the skin tones are the Foundry skin palette with the palest generally just flicked onto the nose tip and the cheekbones, the white is some old GW grey (Elf grey?) and then white and the yellow is VJ yellow ochre highlighted with VJ flat yellow I think. No trick to it, just neat and tidy slow and steady.
The neat, tidy and consistent approach when on the gaming table always works for me.
Thanks for the info, just starting painting mine (after a several years break) must admit it, I managed quite well. Nowhere as good as yours yet, but I'm sure it'll come back to me...like riding a bike.
What colour did you use for your Jager jackets?
I'm finding alot of my paints have dried up and I now need glasses aagh! Glasses are on order...
Very nicely done Gav - that yellow is top-notch...always one of the harder things to get 'right' 8)
What base size are you using?
Stuning miniature paint :o
Those are absolutely grand!

Lovely!
they're lovely. I have had the privilege of seeing Gavin's men close up and they are every bit as good in real life
Been a while, in fact so long the forum's warning me in red writing that this topic's old!! ;D ;D
Got these little chaps painted up yesterday.

looking good
Nice work sir! 8)
Excellent !!

Darn fine markers!!
They look really good Gavin, nice and crisp.
What rules are the triangular markers for? And what size are they along an edge? I was trying to do some square 20mm ones but found it all a bit cramped with the casualty figure and the numbers.
Hi Fred, the markers are for anything really, but British Grenadier which we're trying on Saturday uses Disruption Points on a scale of 0-3 before "real" casualties are taken, so I made them for that. The triangles are cut up left over mount board and were done quite roughly (I'm surprised they turned out as I basically freehanded the first one!) and are 1" sides. As you can see it's tight to get some of the figures on, but I think I measured every type of casualty figure I had onto the base and they all just fitted.
Thanks for the comments guys!
Fred, I did mine like this : MARKERS (http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,560.msg53087.html#msg53087)
I chose green / yellow / red to denote 1-2-3, and then did British / Hessian / American, gonna do some militia and French next.
I think using little cork pieces works well as well, on small bases with say 1,2,3,4 pieces denoting hits / disruption
Happy New Year Gamers
Hi,
What sort of product do you use to realize your bases? Do you use pre-cut bases?
BH62
After a sh*t job which just sucked all enthusiasm out of me, I'm now back to doing more hobby stuff again. I had a delivery from Andy Mac back end of last year which I've only just got based up in preparation for a game we're going to be playing in a couple of weeks for my Birthday.

Very very nice :)
I just love this period and well done they look great

andy
Inspiring work! (as always ;))

They look terrific!! :-bd

Well something of a necro-post, shows how long these have been languishing... :'(
The collection is drawing to a finished state, and I now have 12 British Regiments, most with grenadiers and/or Lights to make into converged units and expand my Orbat. I also have 3 Hessian units. Still a few things to do but since they've been played with a grand total of zero times, I am not worrying about it right now.

Utterly brilliant
Seen worse. ;)
Super painting. Go for it, Yankee Doodles!
Haven't previously seen these. Great paint work! So crisp and clear.
I hope you won't be telling us next that you speed painted these. That would be really rubbing it in! :)
Where did you get the snake fencing (and are these 10mm scale also)?
Very impressive, Gav 8)

Wow, they are lovely 8)
Looking good, always seem to look better when you see an army shot as opposed to the single unit.
Did you make the trees yourself or purchased ? regardless - how or where :d
I really need some better trees mine are all the same and look crap :(
anyway keep up the good work and lets see some continentals ;)
