Title: The Napoleonic Wars with Dragons
Post by: Chad on 08 March 2012, 08:31:07 PM
Just started a fascinating series of books by Naomi Novik. They are set in the Napoleonic Wars, where each nation has an aerial corps consisting of dragons. They are a very good read IMHO and visualising Bonaparte standing on the Landgrafenburg with a dragon, surveying the battlefield of Jena was a delight.

Recommended.

PS. Could make for an interesting wargame.  :)

Could this make those wars interesting, or is that too much to ask?

And would an unarmoured dragon-riding cavalryman be a dragon dragoon?

Phil - They are.

FK - Very good! ;D

GM - In fact from the books all the dragons seem to be different colours according to their type.

The books also imply that the prescence of dragons is normal and has been throughout history. They appear to vary considerably in size, with the largest as big as a 1st rate ship-of-the line with a crew.
