actually i do remember discussing this at the time because on the news it showed a clear example of cavalry interpenetrating close order infantry - something which WRG 6th didnt allow.

I did a bit of research on potential 'combat training indicator pathologies' in Archaeological contaxts a while back. USed police riot training data as a comparison.

Watching formed police lines vs. rioters always reminds me of Romans vs. Gauls...especially with the checkerboard formation the police use, to allow 'snatch squads' or lighter armed, mobile officers to operate...sort of like Roman Velites!
