Title: WW2 japanese - question
Post by: Jose Mendes on 27 February 2012, 11:00:01 AM
High all,
I'm building an Japanese WW 2 army and needed help from the following:

What models in the Pendraken range can I use as prime-movers/vehicles for the transport of infantry, artillery and logistic support for my Japanese?

Thanks in advance

Regards

Japanese in Manchuria and China could use horsed transport eg BP10 3 limbers with horses or GR35 general service wagon
For lorries you could try GP28 Daimler Marienfelde 3t with tilt, SCV1 1920s/30s truck or SV38 and 52 WWII Russian trucks.

In Burma mostly horse-drawn artillery with mules to carry supplies and ammunition. Infantry usually on foot - very rapidly and through terrain the allies thought impossible!

Thanks all for the quick reply and help.

I´m doing mainly the Pacif/Burma/Philipines theatre, so I probably will opt for the BP10 - 3 limbers with 12 horses and GR35 - 4 wheel general service wagon with team, as the Japanese artillery (JP13) is accompanied by a limber.

Also I can´t find any cargo mules in the pendraken range, in other history periods.

Best regards

You could also use NW11 pack mules with mountain gun and NW12 pack mules maxim gun with from the Colonial range.  If you ask Leon nicely, he may be able to post some photographs.

I got some of these recently, they have assorted saddle bags on them, rather than boxes. There is nothing particularly fantasy about them, buy they don't really look WWII to me.

I Know, I´ve recently ordered and received through a good friend of mine a - AI2 Elephant with crew from Pendraken that I´m going to adapt to that purpose.
I found some photos in the web that I´ll use as reference.

"There is a "war story" told, how during the Burma campaign, Captain Norton's famous British mule company, while carring rations down a jungle track, were charged by a small band of Japanese soldiers mounted on elephants. "

Thanks
