Title: French Hussars as Austrians
Post by: Rossenheimer on 24 February 2012, 02:02:27 PM
Being almost unable to wait for the new 1809 Austrian Hussars (unless someone can inform me of their approximate due-date), would the 1809 French Hussars be suitable replacements?

I have heard mention of different shakos, but as far as i've seen both are cylindrical? I know the French had many variants but this pack seems cylindrical.

In this scale particularly are there any other glaring differences? Standard finial obviously but that can be dealt with...

So in short: is it worth waiting for Austrian Hussars (and when might that be)

The Hussars arrived in last month's batch of masters, I actually thought I'd already photo'd them, but I can't see them on here anywhere.  As for release, they should hopefully be in the April batch of stuff I'd think.

Cheers,

Leon

The hussar pics are in this thread:

Regarding similarities with the French. From a 10mm point of view I think the only diference you could see would be the horse furniture. French are covered by a sheepskin whereas the Austrian has a shabraque and sheepskin combination.

All of the Napoleonic hussars were pretty standard the only standout different ones were Russian who carried a lance from 1812 and British who all wore a "busby".

Ahh, that's where they are!  I was being lazy and only looked at Page 3 of that thread.   :-[
