Title: FPW French uniform question
Post by: Shecky on 22 February 2012, 12:26:25 AM
I'm a bit confused now...
What is on top of the backpack for the French infantry, is it a bedroll or a shelter half? At first I thought it was a bedroll but it might be too large for that so now I'm leaning toward shelter half, especially since it looks like the tent poles are attached with them. And what color should it be? I've seen some paintings which show it white, others are blue and some are tan. For the ones I've painted so far I've painted them a light grey but if I get something definitive I may paint the rest of my French in the correct color.

Thanks.

It's a shelter half and I've always painted mine buff, then highlighted lighter, as that allows them to stand out from the pack.

It's a tent/shelter. My info says tan coloured.

Tent D'abris; paint cream and 'Army Painter' finished figure, picks out the folds nicely.

Sounds like we all agree!  :o
Buff/Cream/Tan - we only missed oatmeal, beige and tope!

Thanks. I've got some chasseurs on the paint table now so it looks like I'll need to hit them with a highlight before finishing.
