Title: King tiger paint schemes
Post by: peterdong on 07 February 2012, 11:24:04 PM
Found this great image showing many King tiger paint schemes... But I can't decide which to use.  :-\

Wow! Fantastic! As a last resort - close your eyes and stick a pin in the page. Avoid the white ones if you're not anticipating a winter campaign, though.  8)

The ambush scheme always looks good - right hand side, 3, 4, and 5 down.

While all these paint schemes are great for modelling it does rather describe the German war effort, too much variation and focus on detail.  Compared with allied tanks that came in green. With the occasional  coat of white wash in winter.

Just a reminder - the crews added the cammo, no two vehicles the same.

Not that simple.  Mid war the brown and green of 3 colour camo was applied in the field, which caused variations in pattern and colour. But units tended to look similar, at least in the style of their camo

Late war (from autumn '44) camo was factory applied - it may well be that all King Tigers fall into this category ( I can't remember the production dates)
