So I'm going to order a buch of those plastic 10mm ready painted ACW figures, but I suddenly realised I had like 200 Pendraken ACW figures.
So I started to paint them and this is the first resault

I didn't do anything fancy with these, the only thing I did was use a two layer paint job on the coats and trousers, the coats got french blue shade, with french blue highlights, the trousers got light blue, with bravaran blue highlights.
Gunfreak,
You may not have done anything fancy, but the result is excellent. The firing line figures, mixed up and well based as you have done, look the business. I think this paint job shows just what you can do with a well thought out, if not complicated, job! Great stuff - not sure your plastics will match it.
Mollinary
Thanks for the kind comment.
Yeah, the plastics are problebly quite diffrent, not just sure how diffrent they are, my paint job is probebly somewhat better then the ones on the plastics, and the anatomy might be diffrent to, I think the plastics are more "chunky" But the question is, are they so diffrent that if you have a brigade with a mix of the two, will they stand out, I might have to keep them in separate brigades or even divisions.
The plastics are just a way to get into the period quickly, as I have a big problem painting ACW, I've tried to paint ACW in 6mm, 15mm, 28mm and 40mm, and now 10mm, all the times I've tried, I get to paint a few units, then I get super bored with the painting, and stop.
So I never get enough figures to game with. Hopefully with buying these plastics I can game a little, because I love the period.
Mabye some day I'll have painted enough metal pendraken, so I can retire the plastics or sell them, or keep them as backup for spescial big games.
Do what I do - get two or three periods going at once and chop and change between them. You've made a great start with the Union. :-bd
Very nice!
8)
excellent !
Thanks
I did another unit, this time, rebs, they turned out ok, but they aren't as neat and clean as the union.

Like? 22 is most unlike 200!
huh?
FK is simply proving that he needs to remove his socks before atempting to count past 10, and even then getting it wrong. :P
Actualy I went over the figures again, and the total is 320 pendraken ACW,
Hey Gun, those look very good, both the Union and the Confederates. Keep up the good work and finish the rest.
Now what 10mm pre-painted plastics are you talking about? Never heard of anything like that :-\
Might ba a bit indicent to post other 10mm makers but I don't think they directly compete with pendraken, so I'll give it a try

Very nicely done...I reckon you are definitely going to be disappointed with the pre-paints - from what I've seen they're pretty poor / basic [and very expensive for what they are...]
Well the plastics are just a short cut to gaming, I expect that they will be exchanged for my own painted stuff as I paint more and more.
Some day they will only be used for for those special huge games, were we need a couple of thousand reenforcements.
But right now I need alots of figurs so I can actualy game.

When have you ever seen a neat and clean reb? :D
Hi Gunfreak to be honest, I think you have done a really good job painting those Union and Confederate troops.
Andy
Some really nice work there, loved the blanket roles on the Rebs.
As for the plastics, I saw the first run of figures on Magister Militums stand at Crusade the other weekend, very baisc painting. The second issue I have been informed will be better.
Going on your painting I should stick with Pendraken and carry on painting them yourself :D
Andy
Thanks for the kind comments, I did finish another unit yesterday, but now it's seems like I'm about to get the flu, so I doubt I'll be well enough to paint anymore for a few days or even weeks.

Again, same basic paint job, only trousers and jackets get highlights, the black leather is painted dark gray.
Those are very nice. I usually like the rebs better but for some reason really like the way your Union guys came out. Great job.
Thanks, I continue to paint.
I got enough figures for 6 union and 4 confederate regiments, I also got a few cannon, and generals.

So I'm back to painting my 10mm ACW, I did a detour to 40mm ACW and then some 28mm AWI. but now I'm back.
I finnaly finished my 3rd reb regiment, it had been on my desk almost finished for 3 weeks.
I also did a reb battery, but I suck at painting guns, so I hid the battery behind some cotton.

These look fantastic 8). Your photos have shown me that not only how to paint up ACW armies but I really like the look of the figures and as a result I will be buying some when the new sculpts come in. :D
Exelent minis Gunfreak keep up the good work ;)
Very good stuff. I spotted an empty wine glass in the background of these photos ... is that what has induced the "flu"? I've often woken up with the "Flu" on many occasions ... we'll that's what I tell the kids.
