Title: ECW dragoons masquerading as DAK/Mountain Troops?
Post by: Nosher on 28 January 2012, 05:14:35 PM
I found the inspiration this afternoon to paint up six stands of EC4 ECW dismounted Dragoons for a game next Friday and was staggered how close they actually are to Western desert DAK in field caps or German Mountain Troops.

I reckon you could get away with mixing them in if you removed the swords :o

Hi Nosher

Just between you and me, I had some Scots pikemen lying around and found that the medium pikeman can be slipped into a VBCW unit as a standard bearer wearing a large flat cap an puttees/leggings  :D. I'm also thinking of using ACW cavalry, rounding out the kepi for a hunting cap or using the slouch hat as fedora/homburg for yeomen  :D.

Big fan of the Press Gang, that's me  ;D

Cheers

The Montero cap is likely the ancestor of the Caprithian Cap which the german Mount Troops/Afrika Korps/M43 feildmutz is based on. It even has buttons at the front so you can fold the sides down round your face like a banaclava.

That is teh good thing with this scale, some very obvious style cue changes can morph a figure entierly.
