Post by: nikharwood on 22 January 2012, 12:47:50 AM
Thought it was about time I painted something in 2012  :-[

This is the Brigand battlegroup for our AVBCW campaign; some pics of various stages...although I forgot to take pics throughout  :(

Some - but also WW1 & WW2 Brits, Italians, Soviet, InterWar civilians etc...

Says who? The whole point of fictional stuff is that you can have what you like...these are Brigands from Broadwood Farm, Dunster; they have exactly what they've got. Have a look at my West Somerset BKCII variant & you'll see what I've designed for my setting  :>

I'll be using a mix of ranges for my Local Defence Volunteers to give them that rough-and-ready feel of a unit quickly assembled from whatever is at hand. It's also a great way of using up any spare figures you may have lying around :).

Look really good Nik - thought you might of gone for some blues and blacks to make them look a bit more Civvie like?

Still amazed how quickly you crank these out - and how they go from various shades of heavy dry brushed brown to finished in a couple of steps

Nah - the background to these fellas is that they're local hunters / poachers / smugglers & ne'er do wells who spend the vast majority of their time on-the-pillage in-the-village; there's a good few of 'em around today - and they all look like they could disappear into the woodland in seconds...greens & browns are the order of the day. I decided (when walking the dogs last night) that these are the Broadwood Brigands: they've seized the Crown Estate's farm in the Dunster Forest (this is a real place - both farm & forest) and use it as their base.

Excellent - I'd quite like some local gendarmerie to wander the war-torn streets of West Somerset [& I live just behind the Victorian police station in Dunster so that'd be nice to model up as well...]  :)
