Given the new range of ACW figures I reckon you've got 80% or more of what you would need for the Brazilian/Argentinian/Uraguayan forces in the War of the Triple Alliance. Some of the gaps, for example men in havelocks, can be added from the War of the Pacific range. The most obvious gaps are mounted troops namely Cavalry in Kepi with Lances and Gauchos.
Unfortunately there are no obvious stand ins for the Paraguayans in their distinctive uniforms.
For those interested in a "might have been" matching up a Imperial/French in Mexico force vs. US Army in the immediate post-war period presents an interesting scenario. While the chances of a clash were relatively remote there were lots of US troops on the Mexican border in 1865 and Sheridan who was the commander in the area was very much in favour of direct intervention in Mexico. Custer also held a command in the area so there is no shortage of personalities to liven up a campaign.

Interesting stuff, this info might come in handy once we've got the new ACW range done.
Thanks for the info Hamsterking :)
I was looking at using some of the new ACW for Imagi-Nation and S.America :-[
Love the look of the troops, and the new fig sculpts, but have 0 interest in ACW ;D
Hi
Funny, when I saw the Confederate and Iron Brigade standard bearers I immediately though they could be handy for VBCW. :)
Also, even though they haven't surfaced yet, I'm looking forward to seeing the Confederate cavalry with shotgun and the raiders, and their dismounted versions too ;D. Also wondering if they could fit in as colonial US cavalry ie Boxer Rebellion and Sp/Amer war. Maybe the kepi cavalry could be converted to 'hunt' types.
Cheers

True enough Grumpy, some of them have the whiff of irregular troops about them.
Dock workers and other shady riff raff I'll be bound :-\

Union and Confed cavalry have arrived at Pendraken HQ, so pics of those to come in the next few days. I think the shotgun chap has been bumped into the Raiders, so they'll be arriving next month.
There is also the possibility of using them as Fenians for the 1866 raids, using the Crimean War British as regular militia and Confederates as Canadian home guard.

Or even just 'What If' British intervention from Canada.

They could be melted down for Aztecs too.
They would work nicely for AVBCW troops, especially Irregulars, foul weather gear etc. Just made mental note to add them to the 'list' :).
