Title: Italian Blackshirts
Post by: boggler on 16 January 2012, 12:05:23 PM
Any ideas for figures to use as WW2 blackshirt fascist militia?

They should have floppy zouave style caps but I'm thinking of using the SCW figures in isobelino caps instead.

Not accurate but they look nice!

Any other suggestions would be very helpful.

If I can't work that one out, I'll try using WW1 Italians as adrian helmet wearing coastal defence troops for my battlegroup's green battalion, so at least there's a fall back.

Thanks

Jim

Have you got an image of the headgear ? Grumpy Old Man is the best scout on this forum - and its close to his wake up time 'down under'

For my green troops I got some of the SCW Moroccans in fez and painted them as Lybian infantry.

Unfortunately they don't do for the blackshirt militia units.

Have you had a look at the Moroccan Falange Militia (puttees, shirt sleeves, fez), these might do for western desert, maybe with SCW165 Officer, waving forward, pistol, Isabelino cap for command. Other than those you could look at :-
FPW Zouaves
WW1 East African German Askaris
WW1 French Tirailleurs Senegalese (greatcoat)
It all depends too on which theatre you want to use them  :).

Did a quick search but couldn't come up with any pictures of the figures, maybe some kind soul will point out their location if available.

Cheers

Thanks chaps,

I've decided to use the WW1 Italians in Adrian helmet as they were issued to the MVSN early in the war.

Cheers
