Post by: ciaphas on 15 January 2012, 03:39:21 PM

Not sure that anyone makes big German trucks in 10mm, the closest is probably Pithead who have a 6 wheel Einharts truck, and they have lots of other obscure trucks some of which may look similar enough.

The problem with Pithead, is that they don't send you emails to tell you when your stuff was shipped. Another thing is that it takes, like 5 weeks for stuff to arrive. The third thing, is that Pithead has quite a large number of unimportant vehicles, such as large varieties of half-tracks and trucks, but lacking many major models, such as tanks. Second to last, Pithead does not have a very convenient ordering system. Lastly, Pithead infantry are not as well sculpted as Pendrakens.  :P

I guess Pithead would be okay, but only if you live in the UK.  :'(

Peter  - I think those comments are rather harsh

I don't think you can blame a manufacturer for trans Atlantic postal times - I have generally had Pithead orders in a couple of weeks, which is as fast as any other 10mm producer. Their ranges did start out quite truck heavy, but now cover pretty much all major kit - and they also cover many minor nations in great detail. The only major tank I know that is missing is the Tiger, and this is more of a stance against power gamers than an omission.

Infantry sculpting - some of the ranges are a bit blurry, but their British Infantry are fantastic - they really look like the troops you see in post D-Day photos.

Ordering - no webstore, but there is a spreadsheet template, that can be easily completed.

No, I don't work for Pithead, but have bought lots of their WWII stuff - and I have lots of Pendraken as well (and other manufacturers too)

I have used Pithead quite a bit.  I always get given an idea on how long the order will take, and another when its posted. I have always got orders in 2-3 weeks. The one exception was when he was ill and he emailed me to tell me there would be a delay and offered to refund the order if I wanted.  I said I would wait and the order came through when he said it would.

Pithead is a very nice range and the vehicles are superb, but a little larger than Pendraken (they ae 1:150). There are lots of nice extra touches ie the full crew in the British Lloyd Carrier.

Yes the infantry are not as good casts but they do have more active poses then Pendraken (Sorry Leon). ie there is no Firing SMG pose for Western Desert. The Newer BEF/ interwar ranges are better in this respect.
