We mentioned that we had a few surprises to kick off 2012, and here's parts 2 & 3 for your delectation (Part 1 being the new Falkland's pics here: http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,4378.0.html (http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,4378.0.html)!)
Firstly, Techno has been busy doing us some brand new Marines to replace the current ones, which have been busily fighting the Alien creatures for abour 15 years now! The new figures are excellent sculpts, more modern and generally cool-looking! Thanks to Nik for the painting!

These new figures can fit into a variety of settings easily with a simple change of colour scheme:

These initial types have been converted into battle armour as well, and we also have a brand new heavy gun, which we'll be getting some pics taken of soon.
Secondly, I've been busy myself, working on some Sci-Fi modules, in the same vein as the current Dungeon pieces. I'm hoping to finish these over the weekend, and then I'll get some pics taken of them for everyone.

Plea to run them parralell - the old set is gorgeous as personalities.
IanS ;)
Hmmm nice 8).

We'll be re-organising the whole Sci-Fi range into sections, so Humans, Alien Creatures, etc. all with new coding. The original Marine figures will still be in there, but right at the end of the lists.

Ahem.
I'm mildly impressed.
When will this stuff be released?
I have a sci-fi hankering thats been on hold waiting for a Pendraken revamp.

I'll be looking at March/April releases I'd think for the new figures. The modules will be dependant on how much time I can find to get them completed.
March/April?!?!?!?!?!??!?!
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Hehe, it's not that far away! It's less than 8 weeks til the March releases...! :D

Hmmmm....
Shall I ask that nice Mr Leon, if he'd like me to make something that resembles a 'mertinator' ...without getting too close & hearing the phrase 'intellectual property'.....A 'Mortinator' perhaps ? ;)
Cheers - Phil.
Some/lots of support staff would be good.
Medics,techies troops with comms kit, dropship crew, officers etc ;) :D :D :D :-*
Wearing Tarltons - of course :d =O

Well, while we're on the wish list...
Power armour troops (pretty sure that's not going to infringe IP) - check out the suits for Starship Troopers and the 'anti acid' suits for Aliens.
Support troops (seconding republic of tolworth)
Vehicles (military and civvies/colonists)
Also, another faction (preferable human)!
Its all well and good putting one lot together but you need someone to fight who can shoot back... :D
Sure there are not-Aliens, and not-Bugs, but they're just fancy Zulus. We need other chaps to fight.
Laserburn: Imperium vs Red Redemption
Aliens: Corporate Wars and Colonial Marines
Firefly: Purplebellies vs browncoats
Star Wars: Empire vs Rebels
Dune / Fading Suns / Battletech: Noble houses fighting each other
The factions in rules like the new Tomorrow's War rules...
And of course since the Company-that-shall-not-be-named has basically stolen all its ideas from history, basing your sci-fi figs on WWI French/Germans, WWII Russians, Vietnam Americans, etc. will also open up lots of 'epic' options... (that said i suppose you already have those infantry, so...vehicles!!!)
Etc..

Not sure on this one, we've got a new heavy gun, but nothing else planned.

Sci-Fi vehicles are going to fall into the same bracket as regular ones, finding a designer to do them.

What about just using the current range against the new range?
This is interesting as I've loads of vehicles from the Mechwarrior clicky-base game that are all approx 10mm sitting around. Some of them are a bit clunky but I thought they would fit quite nicely in the style of the Firefly universe.

Yeah i think thats probably the way to go. Either that or use historical ranges.
You mention Firefly for example. One of the things i'm considering doing with these is Firefly, probably using these as Alliance 'purplebellies' and the ACW range as separatist 'Browncoats'.
Only problem will be sorting out mules, 'rollers', and other vehicles...DRM do some nice bulky flyers...they're 6mm but i've got a few and they'll definately match 10mm scale.
The marines are superb!! Wonderfull ! I hope the new SF range will be ready for Salute.

I' m totaly agree with Mr republic of tolworth. Also a new alien race will be usefull.
Maybe 'slims' from Starship Troopers? Not strong but fairly technically adept.
Me wanth, me liketh...my precioussssssssssss :P
Awesome stuff and a definate buy.
Many thanks again for the compliments guys......Really pleased you like 'em !
Cheers - Phil.
They're lovely Phil & no doubt about it. 8)
Something that might work for a bit more variety would be to do what Pig Iron have done with their (lovely) 28mm stuff - do some head variants...that way you get two (or more) factions reasonably easily: if you did some closed-face helmets / gas mask variants for these, that'd do...just a thought :)
Of course, that'd depend on Pendraken bankrolling this ;)
The Skinnies would be cool for this new alien race. It should also be a good starting point for the Green Martians for Barsoom :D :d
I'm painting up a bunch of Pendraken's lovely Giant Worms who I reckon would make excellent opponents for these chaps. Actualy there are a number of the Fantasy/Dungeon figures who would slot into a scifi environment with no bother. DN11 which is billed as a Floating squid but looks like a Floating Brain is an obvious candidate but I also like DN4 and DN42. DN42 would have particular virtues in Jungl/Swamp settings and DN4 would look good in a desert setting. If nothing else they could slot in as Indigenous Scout troops.

Awesome!
Excellent stuff! Really like these minis.
The 'Battle armour' troops are hard to resist. Shame they are not 15mm!
Can I just advise that I think gamers would expect "battle armour" troops to be in full carapace. These are heavy or armoured infantry - I'd be happy to have these as Drop Troops but from the photos definitely wouldn't call them "Battle armour".
Cheers
Mark
Just caught this thread. Excellent, I can see a purchase in the near future... Perhaps at Salute?

Yep, I'm estimating March or April on these hopefully.
I'll be after some of these for sure... what about something on the lines of the 'Dune' series of novels? Giant, GIANT sandworms and riders, flyers etc., etc. Probably give the movie a miss for reference but the series was pretty reasonable in my opinion.
Any guys in caps?
Would be nice though ;)

Not one for a bit of Necromancy but......Alien was on TV last night and I already have an order in for some not Alien aliens but......Any update on the Sci Fi Dungeon otherwise I am going to have to scratch one myself and I have way to many projects on the go ;)
I'm hoping to get to it soon, too busy with regular stuff to find the time to sit down and get the pieces finished off.
Ok more thread necromancy, but as there doesnt seem much likelyhood of vehicles any time soon, here's a line being released without infantry http://www.studiosparta.co.uk/category_s/1819.htm and without the silly prices of Dropship Commander.
I know that Leon's likely to gimme a slap on the wrist but I do see mileage in combining these new Sci_fi infantry with some nice looking vehicles.
