Title: Ronald Searle RIP
Post by: hamsterking on 04 January 2012, 03:04:27 AM
I note with sadness the death of the British cartoon artist Ronald Searle. While the girl's of St Trinians may have been his most famous creation I always had a soft spot for Molesworth; made famous in "Down with Skool". Ronald Searle suffered as a Japanese POW during WW2 and his artworks drawing on that experience are very powerful.

Sad loss. The man made me laugh loud and long many times.

I loved the Molesworth books, especially the wonderful illustrations. A sad loss.

Indeed - have thoroughly enjoyed his work for as long as I can remember...
