Italian company called TB Line does some nice Central and Eastern European medieval figures  (http://www.tridentebologna.it/miniature_E.php?category=31&epoch=2)some of which would probably do for western Europe too. As i said in the Mongols thread more expensive than Pendraken and different style to them.

Hope posting this is ok? I buy both Pendraken and TB Line and some other makes too.

My vote for Crusade Army Against Saladin Army, I'd really like to make these two armies with pendraken, that's why I'm not doing it yet.

I would definitely buy medieval/early renaissance figures.  Although IMO, the line would benefit from a complete redo with multiple poses similiar to the new lines coming out now.  The medieval period was not a period of static, uniform figures.  Something like the late Roman line would be ideal.  Can anyone twist Clib's arm for us?

I reckon twisting his arm might hamper his sculpting ability  :D

When it comes to the Medieval period, I have a socket and ball joint which makes my arm untwistable. It will just go round and round to no effect.
Anway its better to turn a sculptor's head..
..with large sums of money.

Just think of it as late Dark Ages...

Or from a rummage behind the sofa we might come up with this

Don't think much of the way the one in the bottom middle is holding his crossbow. And the one top left has his lance upside down - haven't you got the right Osprey  ;)

It gets worse; the top left knight has his lance held upside down with the pennant at the hilt.

But I ain't redoing them now.

Well a bit of shading would be good, even just a wash??

Also I think there might be a bit of a scale issue

What we really need are more mailed spearmen.  Spearmen are the infantry core of medieval armies until the pikemen show up.  You need tons of them.  Unfortunately, there is only one spearman figure for the medieval timeframe.  It is a good figure in standing relaxed pose but if you have many units in exactly the same pose, it gets kind of monotonous.

We have a decent variety of bowmen but lacking on the spearmen.  There is also quite a few figures that can be used for spearmen without armor.  What is really short are the mailed spearmen.

So my vote is for three or four new poses for mailed spearmen.

There are several medieval spearmen, surely? N2, EMM4, SAM19 (you may need to cut the yari a bit shorter).

Well, the Samarai SAM19 has a spear but not sure he would pass as a European spearman.  The dark age N2 could work if I could replace the spear without too much trouble.  That line has the thick spears which would stand out amonst the regular medieval line with their slimmer spears.

I have the EMM4 and it is a nice figure.

And now that you mention it, converting some of the bill or pike figures might not be too hard.  Although they are all armored as late medieval or renaissance rather than early/mid medieval.

PS:  I bought a pack of the EMM4 last year and painted up about half of them.  I just looked at them again and noticed there are two poses.  That is a big positive.
