Title: AVBCW Storm Clouds Gather
Post by: nikharwood on 05 December 2011, 11:57:05 PM
A fledgling collaborative site [SteveJ, ravenchild & myself] for documenting our South West campaign - to be fought exclusively in 10mm:

https://sites.google.com/site/avbcwstormcloudsgather/home

This will allow us to fight solo battles & keep track of the campaign as well as make us get together for the occasional scrappage...enjoy  :)

Hi

Looking good, squirreled away in the bookmarks now and waiting to catch up with what you're doing. Looking forward to the galleries.

Cheers

Inspiring stuff.  I will follow this innovative site with interest.   This is the sort of campaign that nonwargamers can connect with - familiar place names etc -
such ventures are always good for the hobby-  Sunray out

Looking good!!

I'm rather hoping that I'll be able to fit my 10mm RCW into the AVBCW world..........Perhaps the Markov Regiment as Cornish Royalists or those wearing the budanovka becoming the Brighton Bolshies!

Will this be putting in an appearance at Nikfest 2012?

Yep once again Nik leads the way and tempts me towards ever more 10mm to paint.

Seriously looking forward to more content on this Nik, the lists alone have me thinking.

A fledgling collaborative site

So what do you think of the merits of google sites compared to pbwiki?

"So what do you think of the merits of google sites compared to pbwiki?"

I have a Google based Blog and the Google site looks just as easy to use. Thanks to Nik for setting it up.

In terms of site content, I hope to upload a lot more general background fluff as well as fluff for my particular forces. I have been concentrating on painting them of late, hence lack of site activity on my part.

I'm sure that an AVBCW table would make an appearance at Nikfest and the hope is at Colours 2012 as well.

The aim is to have a fun, narrative driven campaign based around areas that we live in and know reasonably well. All the historical fluff really adds a bit of depth to the games and you can have great fun creating your own forces. Nik and Craigs are cases in point.

So what do you think of the merits of google sites compared to pbwiki?

To be honest in working this one up I was testing the theory that Google functionality across *everything* makes life simple...and it does. I created this site in about 5-10 mins flat - really intuitive to use, simple to link docs from wherever [although Google docs is favourite] - loads of templates to choose from, auto login if I've got my gmail open etc etc...

I like it - and, to be honest [& some of you have noticed], I've not really paid that much attention to my wiki in the last 6 months - year as most of my online posting has been here / The Guild / Specialist Military Publishing...and it looks like it's easier to port stuff over from forum content to Google docs than with wikis [where essentially you're having to duplicate effort - eg uploading pics to the wiki rather than linking from online pic accounts etc]

We'll see...

And it's nice to be able to work collaboratively on these things - & unsurprisingly that was easy as you like with Google too.

Just need to find some time to get my forces painted & on-table, fightin'  <)
