Hello.
As most of you know, I'm working in a fantasy battles wargame system. But I have a problem: What base system people prefer?
- At begining I wanted to use small 20x20mm bases. This way you can remove casualties better. But the bases were very small for formations of some pendraken miniatures.
- The second and actual idea is to use warmaster, Hott, and other game systems bases: 40x20mm. These are bigger and allow you to set different formations.
- Other idea I have is to make bigger bases, like impetus. For example 80x40mm bases. This allow you to make little dioramas, is more visual, and can be made with warmaster bases (4 warmaster bases).
What do you prefer?
Ideas and comments are wellcome ;)
Use one of the standard sizes - in this case 40x20 would look best. I do have 10mm cav on 20x20 so that I can uyse em as both shock in Warmaster et al, but this only takes 2 10mm figures.

And what you think about Impetus bases? You can do it with warmaster bases (2 or 4 together), but the base system allow to make a different game system and troops atributes.
Bit too big imho, much larger than 60x30 is rather large.

40x20 is good as it fits with Warmaster, and the bases can easily go together to make bigger units. 20x20 is a bit fiddly for 10mm figs and as you say it's hard to get more than a few figures on the base.
It depends on what army I'm working on, ancients are all 20x40 for WMA, 7Yw is 20x40 and 20x20 for infatntry, 25x50 and 25x25 for cavalry. WW1 15X30mm.
And I use steel bases as they are the thinest I can find and make storage on magnetic sheet very easy.
I use 60mmx30mm for 10mm Impetus. Looks really good and takes all troop types.
