Generals, command x 2, militia command, line marching for Americans... Everything in the range to be honest!

Sorry to give an 'it depends' answer - but do you know which campaign you are interested in? The army packs will give you a good start but there are some differences in army composition, and especially uniforms, between the major campaigns

By the way - if you do get both sides then don't mistake the same mistake I made. I painted all my Brits first and now have to wait until I've painted all my Americans before I can fight a battle. I should have alternated one from each side and then I could have started using them at least a year earlier !

Thanks for replys:)
As for what campaign I have no idea, have scouted Internet, looked at all the cool pictures on here and thought colourful uniforms and not alot of cavalry( don't like painting horses!) all I know is black powder rules is what I'll be using. Any help and advice would be great ??

The game is up! The Black Powder rules are a great start (it's where I started) -
You defo need command packs, command teams come in 5s, but you will need more if you want two flags per unit.
Talk nicely to AndyMac and Dazza about unit colours (the stuff they sent me was jaw dropping)!
:D

Hey thanks ! Will I need two flags for the yanks? .  I been looking at the baccus painting guide, seems ok maybe that's just me being a complete novice on the subject?
Have been doing 28mm ACW  with black powder, good rules but not enough space!

Hmm, not sure, sorry!

The colour in contemporary units depends on the uniform colour of the unit.
I usually match to the unit colour (or go irregular, but dull grey and brown)  :-\
AndyMac I'm sure will answer this one soon...

Posted some image links on your other thread.

The horse dress thing is a shabraque. A word i'd never heard of until i started painting dragoons :)
