Are the Dwarves and Hill dwarves compatible with each other, size wise?
Are any of the figures the same in the two ranges, such as the gyrocopter?
I think so.
My tuppence worth Fred is the Hill Dwarfs are lovely figures, bit biggish but nicely done. The Dwarfs on the other hand are beards with feet, I had a couple of units of them but to be honest I thought they were so horrible I gave them away.
They're different styles completely, so I wouldn't recommend mixing them. The Hill Dwarves were done to replace the regular Dwarves (which were one of the original Fantasy races we had), but we ended up keeping both ranges in the catalogue.
There are some pics of the regulars knocking about the Forum somewhere, I'll see if I can find them.

I think it's a matter of taste, I actually prefer the Dwarves. Here's a couple of them with sword alongside one of the Hill Dwarf Berserkers:

Thanks everyone.
I have a handful of Dwarves which Leon sent to use with the Dungeon pack - and some do look nice (including the cloaked swordsman, and probably the McDwarf crossbow) but some others, like the guys in the spiked helmets look a bit odd.
They do seem quite big compared with other 10mm though.
I dont have any hill dwarves, but I like the dwarves I just got. they have....Chatecter. and besides, beardes with feat is good. especial since dwarves measure beards like we measure.....nvm :-[

Yes, they measure the same size as Magister Militum's 15mm dwarves - I have an HOTT army made of the two.
