And if anyone in the neighbourhood drops me a line, I'm always looking for new players, esp. in SYW and P. and Sh.
Welcome to the Forum! Are you looking forward to the World Cup?
welcome to the forum. I currently instruct recruits for the Royal Armoured Corps and there tends to be a lot of S African lads coming over at the moment- any reason for this? they tell me they are classed as mercaneries in S Africa??
The world cup is a disaster here. We're spending a fortune that we don't have on a giant stadium, and meanwhile local schoolkids are 80 in a classroom with an illiterate sadist as a teacher, electricity is becoming a memory, and our crime rate is running away out of control. Oh, and a president who thinks a shower prevents AIDS....Don't get me started.

I've got to say I've got concerns about the World Cup. My dad's got a friend who lives over there, we spoke to him at the York show in Feb, and he wasn't looking forward to it either. Like you say, the crime rate has to be a concern for the organisers, and I wouldn't be surprised to see people killed during it.
Hey you think youve got it bad - our pub ran out of John Smiths last week. Sorry mate - thats what happens when 'things' change, you knew it was going to happen eventually, the world see's it from an outside prospective.
Anycase hope the world cup goes well - it may popularise ( is that a word??) S. Africa
Cheers

OK, a pub out of beer is not a disaster to be made light of (I used to live in the Czech Republic, so I know how basic a life-support necessity beer can be). We're running a close second, however.
