Title: Unlikely Totty
Post by: Last Hussar on 27 October 2011, 11:49:12 PM
Be honest - we all have those we wouldn't say no too, even if our mates would go "No, really?"

So who are yours.

I quite like posh totty - Julia Hartley Brewer, as long as she didn't talk too much (have you heard her on LBC?)

and, yes I know she 'bats for the other side', Clair Balding

Claire Balding is NOT happening under any circumstances. Not even if it was for charity.

Lorraine Kelly, however, is a different matter.

I don't know her. I'm a poor ignorant colonial. In fact, I have seen Thunderbirds only dubbed into Afrikaans.

Odd thing about AFF - Some of you may remember Mayim Bialik as 'Blossom' in the teen sitcom (early 90s).  However she wanted to get her qualifications, and so after Blossom she went to Uni and got her degree, and is now a Phd in neuroscience, and has been published.  in the first series the BBT boys consider her as totty (well three of them).  According to wiki Raj says "You know who’s apparently very smart, is the girl who played TV’s Blossom. She got a PhD in neuroscience or something".

Of course 3 series later...

Of course Daphne if you don't mind the stereotype, I prefered Velma.

Julia Hartley Brewer and the lovely Kirstie Allsop aren't 'unlikely in my opinion.  Foxes more like...

I also have a soft spot for Sarah Beeny.

I think its the husky voice.  And the competent independence.

There's nothing more attractive and exciting that someone who is competent...

This is THE Velma I think people might have been referring to... I think she deserves a slot in the TOTTY thread rather than unlikely Totty.

Of course at someone will have to start the conversation at some point.  Betty or Wilma?  For those of you more 21st century- Marge or Lois?

Sorry- Sally Gunnell?

It is time I put in the Last Hussar Theory of Margot Leadbetter.

Now those of you old enough, and lucky enough to have been born British, will remember "The Good Life", and the stuck up neighbour Margot.  It is important you DO NOT confuse her with the actress, Penelope Keith.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/goodlife/ (http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/goodlife/)

Margot is on the right

Now while Barabara Good/Felicity Kendal, quite rightly, makes your average middle age bloke find wellies and dungarees attractive, I have a theory on Margot.

Now most of the time she was a thorn to poor Jerry, her husband.  However, every few weeks he would arrive home on a Friday to find Margot in something frilly/lacy/a bit too revealing.  Without a chance even to pour a large whisky, he would be dragged upstairs by his tie, not to emerge until Monday morning, walking like John Wayne, and going back to the office for a rest.

As I watch a lot of kids TV ( joys of having a 5yo!) here's my pick for unlikely totty:

Katy Ashworth, from I Can Cook

She's not too shabby, and she can cook  - what more do you need?  :D

They're not goths - not even close.

As someone who was married to a proper punk and has three daughters growing up as goths these wee lassies are way too prim and proper.

I'm no longer married to the punk and two of the three daughters have thankfully grown up/grown out of goth :)
