My brother was giving me directions to his new house by using filling stations and schools. I asked what land marks there were that I could head towards if I got lost - he insisted look for the petrol station...

I have no problem with this, it is obviously the shortest walk albeit not the most direct! I'm suprised it didn't say walk to Heathrow or Gatwick then fly :D
That reservoir is just next to the best Triumph dealer in London as well
Maybe I should walk, it's only three days by these instructions, whereas last time we drove there it took 7 and a 1/2 hours!
