.. an informal poll. Mine, for example, is 6' x 4' - achieved by placing three 2'x4' MDF sheets across my 3x6 desk. More than this would be problematic unless I took the game to a friend's or to a community center; less would be pointless (I suppose just the 3x6 desk is fine as far as it goes.
So, on a routine basis what size surface do you put out (or go to) for your gaming?
Depends on the game but typically:
6x4'
or
9x6'
We can put on two 24x6' areas, plus an 8x4'...and a boardgame table.
4'x4' and 6'x4'.
A bit over two metres, by about one.
Just like Lentulus I get 6 x 4 using 3 mdf boards
Typically 6x3 (the dining room table) or 5x3 for 650 points FoG Battles, but can extend the table to 8x4 using 6 loft boards which are chaep as chips!
0x0 :'( :'( :'( (small flat...)
Or if I lug all my stuff up to the 2 clubs I attend, then 6x4 usually
6 x 4 at the club, or 6.5 x 4.10 on two converted fire doors and trestle tables!
Technically as big as I want at the Defenders - then we do have an aircraft assembly room (ex). Normally 6x4, and no larger than 8x6.

Tiny... thats why I play 10mm :)
I often play on a coffee table (suitably terrained), have been known to play on a breakfast trey.
For 28mm games, I mostly use squared grid or hexes - so a bit larger, but again, usually on a dinner table. I have a large 6 by 4 table, but rarely need it.
Six
The LWA (Liverpool) can put up a 14'x6'. I typically game 6'x4' but am looking at creating a 7'x5' at home.

12x5

6' x 4' on the dining table using two 6' x 2' mdf boards covered in couple of blankets with a terrain mat on top.
In theory I could use a couple of 6' x 2..5' fold up tables but I'd have to find somewhere I was allowed to put them up to play ...
Small games are accommodated on a 30" x 30" card table.

Edward
Hi
For home use I have several different size pieces of MDF (6mm thick) which I put together on top of wall paper pasting tables (recently purchased some metal ones from homebase - not cheap but much more stable than the wooden ones) and then cover with the usual green cloth. Easy for storage in the garage.
Size depends on the game - typically 6'x4' (or 7'x5' at a bit of a squeeze) in the spare bedroom with the bed pushed up against the wall or up to 10'x6' in the garage (if it is not too cold) with plenty of room around it for chairs and places to stand the normal tea and biscuits. When we had an extension built about 5 years ago I managed to negotiate a decent sized garage with plenty of good lighting with my domestic line manager.
I do find the flexibility of the above arrangement really useful. Compared with some I'm obviously very lucky!
Cheers Paul
8' x 4', which just happens to be the size of a standard sheet of half-inch chipboard.
I have a permanent 6'x4' table made from two pieces of 3'x4' 10mm marine ply, on a sturdy lightweight ply frame . I also have two pieces of 4'x5' so using an ingenious method of interleaving I can create 6'x4'; 7'x5' (preferred size) or 8'x5' in my wargames room or up to 11'x5' in my living room.

;D You did well there mate =D>
When we moved [similarly, about 5 years ago] I moved my permanent set-up from a single garage to a double [20' x 20'] garage; so everything's there - unfortunately surrounded by the accumulated detritus of family life [ranging from boxes of kids clothes to horse tack etc in my life].
My permanent table is about 5.5' x 4' - set up as grass; I have 6' x 4' cloths in desert & urban / ash waste which will cover it as needed; smaller games will get played either on [and end of] the dining room table suitably clothed, or one of a few MDF / chipboard offcuts that I've textured & painted. It's nice to be able to game on 2' x 2' sometimes 8)
Many paw prints ?

8x4 in the games room :)
Permanent 6x4 in dedicated painting room, can do 8x6 if I feel like it or in my last house before moving cities I had dedicated painting room and a seperate gaming room with a 16 x 6..... :o

He's been crocked for years now... :(
My table comes in 3 sizes
Firstly the 2x4 basic table - notice the blackboard
(http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/alanmillicheap/Misc/P1010374.jpg)
Then the blackboard drops down from the wall to make a 4x4 - it's fixed to the wall by hinges
(http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/alanmillicheap/Misc/P1010375.jpg)
Finally the bit hanging down at the front lifts up to give me a 6x4 table

The board is held against the wall by

Now that's pretty damn ingenious! :o :D
I have roughly 3X4 made from two halves of a paste table fixed side by side. Large anough for my micro armour, but now with failing eyesight I have some difficulty identifying tank models and which side they are on without my nose almost touching the table. Hence just sent my first order for 10mm. Should be able to cope ok. Have some very good solo games on this table.

Sounds promising, Shedman, but sadly the pics have been deleted.
Can you repost the pics via Imageshack or some other more reliable site? I'm really interested in this sort of thing and I'm sure others are, too.
Cheers,
Aart
Currently using the club's 6'x8'.
