If the painting comes off I should be fielding a fair size army for an all day December game - I'll have 18 foot and 14 Cavalry units, my opponent slightly more foot, but less cavalry.
Is it historically allowable not just to line up face to face, but have a scenario where re-inforcements arrive after the battle has started, and/or have some maneuver? I'm thinking of adapting the second day of Gettysburg.
Try an Oudenarde based scenario.

Looks interesting - doesn't need to be an actual historic tabletop, just looking for ideas. It looks like the Hessians deployed straight from the march - is that right? That's the sort of thing I'm looking for to add some difference - almost an encounter battle, rather than careful predeployment (hence my Gettysburg idea). I know Marlborough caught the French on the hop at Blenheim by deploying early.
I haven't got the details in front of me, but if I remember correctly both sides fed trops into the battle and the line of combat appeared to extend gradually across the battlefield. The final cavalry engagement was the result of the allied cavalry coming onto the field, going rounf the French right flank and engaging the French horse moving up to support their infantry.
Could be a very interesting game.
