Title: Sci-Fi Dungeon Crawling
Post by: Blaker on 19 September 2011, 03:25:13 PM
Howdy Yall,

Just wondering if anyone is working on a Sci-Fi type dungeon crawl?  If so are you going to use the dungeon pieces or make your own?

Is Germy working on Sci-Fi type walls and rooms to represent the insides of a huge spaceship?  NOW that would be cool,  ;)

Then we can have Leon, put together Sci-Fi Dungeon Packs   :D

 :o   Good grief, you must be psychic!

I was only thinking the very same thing myself this afternoon.

I think it would have to be a different, more techie 'dungeon' but certainly like the idea. Has this been put on requests yet?

Whoops, I've noticed that the answer to the above question is 'yes'. There's several pages in the requests section.

No pressure, Leon!  :D

The energy must be floating around in the air for this type of gaming  ;)

You could use the dungeon pieces on planet, pick a planet and the spacesuited heroes enter from above to encounter who know what in the caverns and who built them? So ancient civilization leaving behind stuff to guard its secrets?

Maybe if a cold planet you could do a frosted dungeon for the cold?

But I do like the idea of a bulkhead type of dungeon parts - could be really cool  8)

It's on the lists, and something which we'd like to do at some point I think.

Since we at least made it to a list - YAY.    ;)

Anyone have some cool ideas about a Sci-Fi crawl?

What figs would you use and what storyline could be developed. Lets brainstorm and can we use Dungeon World as written or do we need to think about stats for laser weapons and pulse guns  :D

Are we looking as human vs humanoid or human vs alien looking creatures?

Is the crawl on a planet (in the planet via Planet of the Apes 3 or 4?)  or in a desolate spaceship?   :-\

Personally I like the idea of Alien(s) using the Pendraken Scifi range but would also like to go for a Star Wars/Firefly Space Opera. It may be augmented by a few figures from other manufacturers but would mainly be Pendraken 10mm but converting quite a few.

Half the fun of getting a pack of 10mm figures is trying to imagine the different ways that they can be converted.
:-\
Hey, Leon, perhaps that could be the next competition - variations on a theme - how many ways can we paint/convert a single figure for different genres.

Very cool Capt, I had forgotten about Firefly!!  Great show, sadden it got cancelled  ~X(

A skirmish in Serenity Valley that leads to an underground Alliance complex filled with all sorts of goodies and evil Alliance troopers.

Or in Bushwacked where Mal and Company boarded that derelict ship that had been attacked by Reavers, well maybe the Reavers are still there instead of being gone.

So thinking about Firefly our band of Heroes:

Mal  =  fighter with shooty weapon maybe with + initiative
Zoey  = fighter with shooty weapon
Jayne  =  fighter with really big shooty weapon
Simon =  healer type
River =  magic user of some type and DEADLY hand to hand
Kaylee  =  hmmm
Shepard =  priest type
Wash = shooty type?
Inara =  hmmm

You could pick 4 or 5 from the above and send them on their quests.

Alliance = typical soldier type?

Reaver = crazy zombie or scary barbarian?

Any thoughts?

oh oh Leon, where is that DW Campaign book, this Sci-Fi dungeon thingy has campaign written all over it.

The Firefly crew always on the hunt for treasure/loot/goods/salvage to sell to keep their ship afloat and coins to make a living with.  And they always seem to get into trouble.

Now what figures would work from the Pendraken range?    :-\

we ran serenity as a role playing game using pendraken figs.
We used various figs from various ranges for the cast
AC24 for Reavers
sf32 for the bluebellies
sf20,21 for civillians
sf15 for suited characters
sf2 for mercenary types

also used vm16 porters in coolie hats
vm30  vietnamese civilians

various other bits and bobs too

Very cool Maeno,

The crew would be more outfitted similar to wild west figures.  What fig could we use for River?  Any female figure in any range that is in a short skirt and no weapons or weapons that could be cut off easily ?
