Busy painting my HOTT/Fantasy HC force. Mainly set in Africa and Mideast.
Lots of fun tribes and those evil pyramid building bad guys...boo!
Anyway I've painted the centaurs with zebra bodies, but not sure on the torso? African? or just carry on with the zebra colours all over?
Been bugging me so much I've moved on to glueing on the leopard clans tails :-[
Mmhh...interesting question...
I think that will have a better look in black.
Can we have some photos once finished?
I'd go zebra all over, it will be different!
Nooooooooooo, go with zebra torso, but do the human part as human... sounds fantastic that way... just my pennies worth :)
Six :D
Gone for zebra rear section and African torso.
Looks odd, and kinda cool as well.
Now to the rhinos...
yeeeeey <:-P m/
Six :)
I think we need some pics of those!
Did you do white with black stripes or black with white stripes?
If you want authentic African Centaurs I believe it's the former.
:d
But please, yes, pictures.
White with black stripes. Easier to paint. ;)
Go with the new Africa look; token white and Asian among the melanistic majority.
Poor picture but just remembered to put up as I'm needing some more for the African wars.
Reallly nice and very convincent in a african fantasy army. congrat
Those are great!
Very nice!
Excellent 8)
Very original....Works particularly well too ! :-bd
Cheers - Phil
are you going to use amazons for that army? some rhinos? or going for hisotricals to convert them into fantasy african warrior?
Aye, the Colonial range Zulus or fantasy Barbarians or Amazons would fit the bill. Also a few elephants, a Rhino ro two, or some of the dinosaurs for a 'lost world' style force?
Let's see...what else?
Werehyenas - i guess you could use the fantasy wolf figures with an appropriate paint scheme.
Boliko (Biloko?) - magic tree dwelling dwarves. Perhaps use the cloakced drawves or dwarf wizard figures?
Abada - unicorns, but i think they had a crooked horn
'Big snake' - in South African if i recall...big enough to eat an elephant...
Lengu (Liengu? Tokolosh?) - giant water spirit (use water elemental?)
Umdelebhi(?) - Zulu's talked of a poisoned gas tree that fed on the rotting corpses of those its gas killed. (Carnivorous plants mins?)
Some nice ideas there guys, cheers.
At the moment the 'main force' troops are Maasai from the ww1 range. With Zulus as another tribe. some greek javalins painted up as skirmishers. And yes I have some rhinos. which are very cool not so little figures. Also the new riderless elephants are screaming to join the throng.
Some vultures left over from warmaster bits and a northern wolf tribe as well. The old style velti stand in for them. But I may get some of the very nice new ones from Techno. Just the wolf skin ones. They have deer riders with wolf pelts from the Eureka range (yeh yeh I know, but I was weak :-[)
More is planned with the leopard clan and others, but I have to finish painting Persians and Elizabethans before I'm allowed near that project again ;)
The rhinos are cool, used as scythed chariots in Hail Caesar can be quite evestating - unless they run away 1st :)
Is Hail Caesar any good?
I like HC it seems to take most of the fiddly bits out of Warmaster, but retains the command uncertainty.
The break test mechanism can be a bit too random so we have a house rule to tone the extremes down a bit. Movement is best described as free and easy (but no more so than WM)
HC is one of the more enjoyable rule sets I have ever played, I would recommend it to anyone.
I like hc, but you have to balance forces rather than give them every skill in the book or it lives up to the club nickname of Hail Cheesey!
I agree not too many special rules, though I do like the ones which make your troops worse :d
I agree! that was why our halfling goblin game was so enjoyable, only two units perside really had anything worthwhile!
for instance the halfling swordsmen had two handed weapons, which cap foamw saves at 5 plus, however most of the goblins only had a 5 plus save anyway! :D
