After the sculpting contest i continued painting the dungeon ...
I opted for grey as the basic colour...
The dungeon-pieces were primed black and then heavily drybrushed grey. After that the pieces got a "wash" with black and a light grey drybrush.
Subsequently they were drybrushed with a cream-like white and pure white. Then the pieces were dabbed/drybrushed
with different brown colours and green to get an "aged"-look.
This is how the basic colour scheme of my dungeon looks like...

To get more variety and a bit more colour to the dungeon i started modifying the floor tiles.
Therefore i cut some thin plastic sheets into square pieces and glued them to the single dungeon squares. After that i coloured the
squares in chessboard style, like on the heroquest board.
Nice!
Here is a picture of how the squares look like before painting...

For the corridors i decided to give them two colours: grey walls and brown floors.
I am yet undecided, if the brown floorcolour fits.... :-\

Interesting approach Annatar, i really like the Hero Quest chequered floor tile effect.
I see you undercoat in black then add grey on top. I tend to go black undercoat then add white (Spray) over the black to create a grey tone (white and a bit of black makes grey and all that bla bla bla).
Nice work. I`d really love to see some more photos :-bd
Six :)
These are looking good, nice to see something different in the Dungeon's! 8)
Just in the process of re-vamping all mine a bit this week.
Sweet :)
Finished some more rooms...

These are extremely attractive Annatar.
Keep up the great work. Really most impressive 8) I very much look forward to seeing you play some games with this little lot when everything is all painted up (and sharing the photos with us, of course) ;)
Six :D
Looking good there Annatar - gives a totally different 'feel' to the rooms 8)
Cheers,
Kev
hanks for your comments Six and Kev ! :-[
I tried to give all the rooms a dirty/old/mossy look. I hope this worked out and i didn't overdo it. I noticed later is that on the photos you can sometimes the original floor looking through between the tiles . Normally you can hardly see this. Maybe have to overwork this.... hmmm :-\
Next i will paint the corridors and then some minis...
Furtermore i am planing to buy a black cloth to be laid on the table and beneath the dungeonpieces for the visual effect and to build a dungeon/cave entrance....
Of course i will write a (nice) battlerep with lots of pictures, when everything is complete !!!

The dirty old mossy look works a treat Annatar, and I wouldn`t worry about the imperfections you see. Noone else sees them, I assure you. Just get everything painted up and trust me, thats when I real fun starts.... when you PLAY THE GAME... you can`t beat it. I can`t wait to read a few battle reports from you. I think these will be a real feast I`m sure.
Six :)
These look fantastic Annatar, really impressive. They really give each room it's own personality. 8)
Agreed - nice to see variation on a theme 8)
Got to say I love the look of them, can't not fault you on the paint scheme you have gone for.
I was considering getting them for the D&D 3.5 and Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd Ed that I play as 10mm will be take up alot less space and seeing your hard work on them may have clinched it for me.
Steven
Finished the corridors yesterday evening. Finally i opted for brown for the corridor floors.
Painted the doors today...

and some action...

These are excellent, one of the best Dungeon's I've seen so far. :-bd
And also...
Ooh, ooh, ooh, a Hydra! I've always wanted to do a Hydra! :D
Thanks :-[
Its an old Hydra from Ral Partha, which is a little small for 28mm but works fine for 10mm.
Really great looking bits!
The only way to deal with a hydra:

:D ;) :D
;D I've always wanted to have a go at sculpting a Hydra, but so far haven't found the time. Aside from the fact that it'd be awful anyway... :D

Maybe the sculptor of the basilisk will comply (sorry, awful at names)? His work was awesome!
Some dungeon junk...
It looks like someone has looted a merchant caravan...
Used EC26 ("Renaissance / English War") and DN22 items for this and glued them on 1 Cent pieces.
Those are really nice :)
Ahhh - but what's really in the barrels! You never know what ravenous monster has emptied one, crawled in for a post munch nap, and doesn't want to be woken up! It's the one next to the barrel of gunpowder, just in case of fireballs! ;)
Really nice looking dungeon. The floor tiles really change the look.
The hydra's good too. And Lemmy those cartoons are good, I've managed to miss those in th past.

Vermis. I'd appreciate if he at least finishes his basilisk :-\ - Vermis! Call to arms! Present the tools!!
Annatar you make me and my brother wanna start our own dungeons. In 10mm you've got so much space, thus so many possibilities (Like playing with several heroic gangs or teams, i.e. one per player even).
Cheers :)
Wow! I LOVE the Hero Quest feel!
This is just amazing (pronounce it with the "Steve Jobs" effect on the "aMMAYzing")! :-bd
Wow, that a great looking dungeon! Love what you did with the place :D I also like the Hydra a lot.
Thanks for your encouraging comments :)
Here are some pics of the 5 heroes of the basic dungeon pack.
First the "healer":
The flames were sculpted with green stuff on a DN16 "Well" base.
Here is a link to the tutorial, which i found quite useful... http://www.mainlymedieval.com/ozpainters/viewtopic.php?t=1701 (http://www.mainlymedieval.com/ozpainters/viewtopic.php?t=1701)
Second the "barbarian hero":
The corpses and skeletons come from DN51,
the pole with the cages from GW (Warmaster).
Third is the "elf hero with bow", who i painted in brown colours instead of the standard elven green.
The pieces used in this diorama are: DN24 (bed), DN26 (chair), DN28 (table with food), GR 44 (Boxes and Sacs),
EC26 (artillery equipment), DN54 (fireplace).
The mouse was sculpted with green stuff.
Fourth is the "wizard". The basic miniature was modified: He received a left hand and a symbol on his staff.
The furniturepieces you can see are: DN25(book case), DN27 (wizards table), EC26 (artillery equipment),
DN31 (tome on pedestal), FD15 (cooks with chickens and stoves)
And at last the "rogue" looting a crypt, which is built up from:
DN32 (coffins), DN21 (crates of skulls), DN51 (Remains and bones),
FU18 (grim reaper) and
two rats sculpted with green stuff.

Awesome work!
These are really nice. Great composition, painting, and searching out obscure bits from the lists to be useful. Thank you for putting the codes of the various buts down - will help me in adding more stuff to my next order...
=D>

Second that! And love those rats - very reminiscent of the mice in Wallace and Gromit's Grand Day Out. :D
Must get myself a stove or two.
Can I just check - are those skulls in the rogue picture, front left? Are they home-made too?
Oh, i forgot about the skulls. Those originate from the GW blister pack "Undead bone thrower".
(I fortunately bought one of those for 1,- â,¬ on ebay. :D).
Since skulls add a lot to the atmosphere of a dungeon, i like to use them.
A pendraken skull pack would be great... ;)
Very nice, like these a lot! 8)
Are the FD15 stoves different from the GR141 stoves?

Yes. I have the GR141 stove, and it looks quite different. It's barrel shaped, with the stove pipe sticking out on top.
Thanks.
Damn online ordering - £25 spent on bits and pieces....
Neat, really nice work there, again :)

Some more finished minis for dark dungeon rooms...
feat. a blond "version" of Keira...
...
The giant crabs got some additional eyestalks...
...
...
...
3 non-pendraken minis...
(i hope you don't mind leon....)
an orc/goblin hero from kallistra,
an highelf wizard with a strange hat from gw
and a dragon from hobby products/splinteredlightminis
...
and finally a wood elf mage
(modified the spear tip of FE2 into a dark green crystal orb for this one)
maybe i should paint the staff bone white for more contrast :-\
Lovely work! You are producing a great set of minis and terrain. What sort of game are you planning?
Excellent painting Annatar :-bd
I agree painting the staff bone white could be a good move to help reinforce the 'staff' not spear illusion.
Cheers,
Kev
Those are really cool, love them all! 8)
Nice to see another varient on Kiera! :D
BRILLIANT I especially LOVE the female warrior :)
Really cool!
what system rules do you use? Scenarios?
Thanks for your comments !!!! :D
I plan to use the minis in two different ways.
First for Song of Blades and Heroes/Song of Gold and Darkness using my modular cavern board, which i built for this purpose.
=> http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,4674.0.html (http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,4674.0.html)
At the moment i am working two warbands, one dwarven and one goblin. For the dwarven one "benmoors dwarf army"
( http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,4815.0.html (http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,4815.0.html) ) gave great ideas for converting these minis, see picture below. THANKS Benmoor for posting your pictures !!!
In the back is an old version of the evil wizard (AC19), which was modified to look more Gandalf-like and fits well with the style of the "old" FD-dwarf-range. 6 Dwarves and 1 Hobbit still to go.... :-B
Maybe i will create some misty mountains scenarios.... :)
Second i plan to play some heroquestlike games either using six's rules or "Dungeoneer!" ( http://www.matakishi.com/downloads.htm (http://www.matakishi.com/downloads.htm) ), or a mixture of both :)
PS: Finally chose a white staff for the wood elf mage. It looks much better.

Yeah it does. That green gemstone set into the staff really sells it, too.
The wood elf mage looks the business now :-bd and I shall look forward to seeing those dwarves painted up :D

Kev
