Title: French 1940 ATG
Post by: stevothedivo on 07 August 2011, 05:46:13 AM
Hey lads
BKC II pg78 lists 25 and 47mm ATGs I assume are codes FRE6 and FRE7
Is the portee version available, too?

Yes they are, but unfortunately not from Pendraken.

As sunjester says, not at the moment.  We are waiting on a French truck from the designer, so once that's done, we can pop the gun in it.

I'll look forward to that  8)

Leon - the French Portees would be on their soft 1/2 Tracks, cant ever remeber the name. You could do a British one, open cab 15cwt with the 25mm on it - used 1940, we swaped 100 Boys ATR fro the Hotchkiss gun.

That would be the Citroën-Kegresse type half tracks  :D

they were also mounted on Laffly trucks. Either would be more than satisfactory :D :D. Also a horse drawn limber wouldn't go astray either  ;D ;D.

I'd even take this:-

We're looking at doing the Laffly trucks, so it would be that version most likely.

Hi

Just with regard to the 25mm does the model have separate trails to make portee/limbered versions easily, and is there a small limber with pneumatic tyres available (I'll see if I can round up a picture), and which draught horse would be best? While we're talking about portees there's always the UE tractor:-

Hi

Found some info on the limber, the version I was looking at only had one horse though.

It can also be used for the 60mm mortar and as an 8mm Hotchkiss mg cart.

Anybody have a pic of German WW2 - Infantry light limber trailer with horse - GR37, could it be used as a proxy?

Cheers

GR37 which is actually a pair of limbers, looks pretty close to the French one.

A Citroën-Kegresse model with crew, just like the photo from Grumpy would be a good choice; it's something unique.

The 1/2 track would be useful by itself, it's the offical Dragon Portes transport.

Half track was also used by the Germans and Major Becker made some armoured conversions to equip the Panzer Grenadiers of 21. Panzer so my vote goes for that.
