I think people would be focussing on the wrong spherical objects...  ;)

There's a rather random football wargame on the market somewhere, it was on TMP a while back.   :)

Meanwhile soccer could easily be mingled with another word...for me with my french accent!^^

Nah, it's definitely soccer - aka Wendyball - hasn't been the same since they got rid of the scrums, hacking and gouging...  :d

There's also "Corner Kick". 

I have The Beautiful Game and am waiting for someone to make 10 or 15mm figures for it.

I was, and still am, a big fan of Subbuteo football

Replacing the plastic figures with smaller metal figures would be interesting although it might make them top heavy

On pain of thread hijacking I also played Subbuteo Cricket and Rugby

The one Subbuteo game I could never get my head around  was Angling http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/21504/angling
