Greetings all
I have been working on a little project for Pendraken for a little while now - a range of 1/300 scale ACW boats which Pendraken have had on the stocks for a ages, awaiting someone to sort out. I am the lucky chap who volunteered to do it, mainly because I had been hunting around for some ACW boat's for about 2 years to develop a project, and was about to scratch build them when I was introduced to Dave at Colours last year. Anyway one thing lead to another and the first boats are rolling out of dry dock.
Some months ago Leon suggested that I start posting some of the pictures of the project up and so I have finally got around to it now I have something to show:

First off out was the Passaic Class Monitor the USS Weehawken - you may have seen this at Salute but I have spuced her up since then

Next is the CSS Atlanta which can be seen here before the paint was applied

Again the CSS Atlanta after a base coat and washes before the Drybrushing has commenced
These are the first two in a line of 20 so I have a bit of work to do.
Anyway let me know what you guys think
Regards
Rob
P.S. Unfortunately I am without a Camera at the moment, so can't bring you any more pic's for the time being.
I love the painting style. Are they the ships sold by Pendraken? If so I must have a go at doing up my Atlanta and also getting some tinclads and Cairo class ships for the Western theatre.
It's difficult to judge the scale of these vessels from the photos. I gather from the cutting mat that they're fairly large, but you need an object in the foreground (a ruler, a coin or whatever) to give some scale.
However big they are, they're well impressive and I look forward to seeing the others. :-bd
Nice looking work. I gamed 1/300 and the last century. It is good for ACW naval actions. Might be useful to put some 1/300 figures alongside to give perspective to the scale.
Sunray out
They do look lovely....but why not 10mm then? :-\ :)
I'd buy a boatload. Oh. Hang on... :d
I'm taking a guess, it's on an A4 sheet, so less than 28cm long...
Hi Guys
Yes sorry about not scaling I will do some pics with scales when I get my camera back - Atlanta is Approximately 21cm long - Weekhawken is about 20cm long)
Lemmey you are correct they are on an A4 bit of paper(note if you can see the cutting mat grid below the paper the squares on that are 2 Inches)
You will have to ask Leon when they are likely to become available.
Nik - actually they will work pretty well with 10mm given that I have in the past gamed 1/600 scales ACW boats with 15mm figures and it looked great and that is a bigger scale differenciation then 10mm - 1/300

Ok as you may have seen on the Colours Show report I have now finished the Atlanta, I am working on another few boats, but dont have a camera to get an pic's at the moment

This time I remembered to add the ruler to give you some scale
I still have to finish off the detailing but she is coming along. By the way a toffee to the first person that spots my deliberate mistake.
She's going backwards?
Are the stern ventilators pointing the wrong way?
Anyway, looking forward to seeing the completed work. :)

Yep Toffee to that man - when basing her up I did the bow wave at the wrong end:-)

The steam vents always point away from the casemate on the reference materials I have.
