Title: Seven Years War Saxons and Palatine
Post by: T13A on 14 July 2011, 05:22:41 PM
Hi

I want to add some Saxon and Palatine infantry battalions to my SYW French army and was wondering which Pendraken figures would best suit? Also are there any figures that would be suitable to use for dismounted French dragoons?

many thanks

Paul

For the dismount dragoons you might try the FIW Compagnies Franches de la marine, summer uniform FI1 http://www.pendraken.co.uk/FI1-p3104/  -- at least the hat is in the right direction.

I generally consider the Austrian the most "generic" uniform for SYW since it is fuller than the Prussian and does not have the prominent sword of the French.  But that just will not work if you want Saxon grenadiers, at least based on this  http://www.kronoskaf.com/syw/index.php?title=Prinz_Maximilian_Infantry  The Prussian tricorn shape is quite distinctive; British troops might be worth a look.

I think the Austrian will work for your palatinate -at least the bearskin is right if I am comparing my own figures to there http://www.kronoskaf.com/syw/index.php?title=Prinz_Birkenfeld_Infantry correctly
