2012 will be the 20th Anniversary of the launch of Pendraken, and we want to celebrate that! <:-P
So, we're planning on holding a 1-day event, with all manner of games, displays, etc. for all of our customers to come and take part in. The event will be held in the Middlesbrough area, somewhere between May-July, depending on the shows. But the question is, what would you like to see included?
We're looking for any kind of input on what would make the day that extra bit special. A new range launched at the event? Sculpting demo's? Special one-off offers on Pendraken goodies?
Let us know your thoughts!
Shoot! I wish I could be there. >:( Since I can't make it (geographically challenged by a large body of water!), I don't want to throw in a suggestion and take away from the fortunate ones that can. However the day goes, I'm sure it will be grand! I've never had a bad day getting to meet my fellow gamers.
Leon, I won't wish you well on the next 20 just yet, that's for next year proper. I'm just slightly superstitious, perhaps it comes from rolling dice. ;)
Dave
That's quite a milestone coming up guys :D I'll certainly try to make it along if I possibly can ...... wonder if I can convince SWMBO that Middlesborough is a good location for our summer holiday .............
Sculpting demos are always interesting, but not often seen, and make sure there's a bar :P
Cheers,
Kev

Great as a base to exlpore Yorkshire/Durham and Lake District. Whitby, Staithes and Scarborough are some of the best places on the east coast.
May-July? Maybe I could come!
Err...There will be cool to see demonstrations of few games (BKC, FWC, HOTT, etc...)

Not a job I'd like to take on.
Demo games, participation games, maybe the 2012 painting and sculpting competition could feature?
Just as long as its a saturday and not a sunday as we'd be slap bang in the middle of the cricket season!

I can sort out half of that... but you'll have to find your own beer... :D

Yep, good stuff all around. It's pretty good shopping in the town centre as well, for t'other halves to go wandering!

Hmmm.. possibly. We could have a one-off painting comp on the day.

They dont work...... :d ;D
You just KNOW you will be held to the Cheerleading bit ;)
Sounds a good idea (the event, not just the cheerleading)
One thing that would be interesting, but may not be practical, is to see how the figures are actually made, i.e the casting process etc

I've been thinking about that, but I'm not sure on the Health & Safety aspect of bringing along a casting machine, depending on the venue we get. I did wonder if some of the resin could be brought, and folk could 'cast their own' resin buildings?
We can definitely bring a couple of moulds along though, and maybe do a step-by-step guide of master sculpt through to the figure on your table.

Oh, and add my vote for the cheerleaders :P

I'm in.
Like a big dog. Like a man possessed.
After all, you have promised cheerleaders...maybe nosher, kiwidave & I could bring a few from the Sarf ;) 8)

How could I forget the parmo! I haven't had one in a while, I wouldn't know who's doing the best ones now.
Clearly none of you have met a girl (if you can refer to them as such) from East Anglia...
Pointy head, webbed hands and feet :D

I could do with a nice parmo, it's been a while.
Leon - WTF!!
How about some limited edition personality figures from popular ranges for attendees to buy. Any leftovers could then be taken to shows.
Looking forward to this as no plans for 2012 yet so should be able to attend.
DP
Hi Leon
Let us know if this definately goes ahead as we have been using 10mm for our show demos for last decade - could probably rustle up enough people to run a couple of the games at the same time: Soudan, 1870, ACW, Marlborough, 7YW, 1866, WWI, Wars of the Roses, Boer War etc
Cheers
Bernie
Great idea Leon, i'll definately pitch up. I'll ask around at the club too, see if we can offer some support - even if its a few demo games!
Things that might be fun to see (all 10mm Pendraken focussed of course):
- Open game tables
Local club displays / demo games
Armies on parade - perhaps a display of well painted Pendraken armies, maybe as a judged competition? Perhaps individual or 'base' painting display/competititon too?
Pendrakens display of its full range - painted.
DungeonWorld exhibit (participation games?)
Meet 'n greet with your scultors and painters (assuming they're safe be be let out of their cages?) Maybe lectures/seminars on various aspects of 10mm gaming (sculpting/conversion, painting, terrain making, the benefits of the scale, the best rules to use etc.)?
A 'totty' stand...ahem...perhaps not.
A gaming competition or two (HotT/DBA, WMA, BkC/CwC/FwC)
A trade stand obviously...
Cat in the Hat special.
A gathering of local clubs.
Um...

I'd like to do some kind of one-off figure, but I've got a few differing thoughts on what to do at the moment.

It's definitely happening, but we haven't set any dates yet.

Probably a bit optimistic! If we get a nice variety of games though, we'll have a lot of the ranges covered.DungeonWorld exhibit (participation games?) -
This would be cool, and definitely something I'd like to do. Maybe, this is something we'd discussed behind the scenes, but one person pointed out that most people attending will be 10mm folk already. I'd love to have some kind of sculpting tutorial.A 'totty' stand...ahem...perhaps not. -
Hmmm...A gaming competition or two (HotT/DBA, WMA, BkC/CwC/FwC) -
Not sure on this one, could be fun, but it would depend on how much space we've got available.A trade stand obviously... -
Yep, definitely!Cat in the Hat special. -
Also a possibility. It's a shame we sold the Prussian helmet, and we've already got an offer for the Roman one as well! Dave's got a few in the loft he could bring along though, including a £400 picklehaub!A gathering of local clubs. -
Yep, all would be welcome, and I'll be pestering folk for games once we finalise more details. Thanks for all the feedback so far!

What a great idea! Would love to go to this show and see loads of 10mm games on the go. Been talking to the lads at the club aswell and they would love to but on a game. We have ACW, North West Frontier, Zulu’s, Boar War, Sudan, Indo - China, Vietnam, 30 Years War, Napoleonic, WW2 and WW1.

Cool, sounds good. Once we've finalised dates and things like that, I'll start contacting interested parties about games.

Hope I'll be able to put on something - SYW, FPW, Crimea or Late Romans - depends on some of my friends coming along or lending armies.
Tempting to do FPW!
Spoke to Pete at the Burnley club, we be interested in running a SCW game using my own variant rules with BKC style command system, now I've painted half of Spain for him he has a lot of armies to field :)
Full details have now been announced: http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,4487.0.html (http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,4487.0.html)
If anyone is still interested in putting a game on, please let me know!
i'm thinking AWI - but need help. I've set up another thread for anyone who's interested to get in touch
Excellent - something to look forward to in the summer...I need some fellow South West reprobates to travel to the northern reaches...anyone in?
Tempting, but it's 4 hours away....it's almost abroad! :D!
I've pencilled it in, but 'tis a long journey, but worth it I'm sure.

It's only a long way if you're the driver... :D Get in, fall asleep, wake up when you get here!
My car dont' go on water...^^
I'm 4 hours 18 minutes away (according to the AA) and my visa is not up to date so I can't go beyond Watford Gap.
Actually I'm already booked that day so can't do it sadly but I hope it is a great suceess.
If I can persuade Craig to tag along, then that will make a big difference.
Distance: 261.3 miles
Journey time: 4 hrs 37 mins
Petrol in my car would be around the £80 mark :'(.
