Title: S.African modern.
Post by: republic of tolworth on 08 July 2011, 10:44:37 AM
Okay it's going to be a minority request, but so was 'bears' in my opinion :P

I'd love to see S.African vehicles for 60s onwards. Some much bush wars so few toys :'(

The opposition already have their T34s!

No one else makes these, apart from 6mm, and 10mm is the best scale for bush war fights.

I can join ianrs54 in the vain war for post war bits.

Why not buy a few of the real things from the SADF? The country needs foreign exchange.

How much fuel would that suck up!

Oh if only I could. Chessington would feel the wrath of the republic of Tolworth :d :d :d

Could be useful, troops with weapons other than the US/Soviet usuals would certainly be useful for my Banana Republic games.

I'm in on this one...I did SADF v Angola in 6mm and it was OK...but in 10mm I'd do it properly...The SADF infantry are pretty much taken care of by the Vietnam Aussies really, so we're almost there  ;)

True enough Nick. Infantry are pretty easy to source/scatch from existing lines.

It's the odd vehicle and a few specials that would make the list.

I've used SCW cavalry for Portugese in Angola and rest of the foot *some one else* with pend' Aussies mixed in.

I too have the 6mm. No good for the whole feel of the brush wars. 15mm too big. 6mm to small. Oh that leaves me with my fav' 10mm then :D ;D

Too right - which is why I sold my 6mm  :)

Dragged mine out today. Time  to sell. Need more 10mm bits to finish the Caccaran Brush wars forces.

Plus I feel the police need some more dog units. The Aussie ones paint up well as police dogs :)

Dog units...one elite regiment included in its training the requirement that rookies raise a puppy to adulthood, then kill it and eat it. The sort of thing that makes one feel less comfortable about being a wargamer (or in my case, being a South African).

I like this idea, was sold on it in pub last night.

And presumably you're talking about gaming this in 10mm rather than raising a puppy & eating it?!  :o ;)

Must admit the food in our local weatherspoons has gone a bit odd the last few weeks :-\

You can add a T55 and Centurion then Pendraken is on the way to having a range of 60's and 70's MTB's. This must be a sales opportunity!
