Title: N gauge diecast vehicles
Post by: Steve J on 28 June 2011, 01:01:18 PM
I stumbled across these very nice vehicles in my local modelshop at lunchtime today. They are well detailed and are perfect for AVBCW, SCW and WWII.

Yes, they really are the Rolls Royce of the N gauge vehicles.   Perhaps too a well detailed to mix and match with wargames models ?  Don't get me wrong, I have used them in diorama, but for gaming we find the cheap and cheerful gemkits blend in very well with Pendraken.  The Austen 7 , Morris Z van and the Morris Cowley (all at £2.65) all work well in AVBCW etc.   Any more plugs and Terry Henson will pay me commission.

When you think about it, the Pendraken vehicle is really good value for money, which is why a lot of N gauge modellers rave about them.

Sunray out.

Thanks for the heads up on the Gemkits as I'd never heard of them. I compared prices of the Gemkits to the Oxfords stuff that I bought and the Oxford diecast was exactly the same price as the Gemkit before P&P. However, they do have quite a nice bit of kit so I will check them out in more detail later.

Hi All

As you may be aware of by now, I like to poke around in dark corners to find what's available  :D.

I came across these while looking for N Gauge vehicles myself:-

available here http://shop.ebay.co.uk/autocraftmodels/m.html?_nkw=n+gauge&_sacat=0&_odkw=&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3911.c0.m270.l1313 (http://shop.ebay.co.uk/autocraftmodels/m.html?_nkw=n+gauge&_sacat=0&_odkw=&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3911.c0.m270.l1313), all a reasonable £1.75 (plus postage). A bit small but then again so were the originals  :D.

They used to make others, not sure if they are available:-

Now just have to work out how to put an AA station into the back of the Austin van............ ;D ;D ;D ;D

Cheers

Steve.

If you can source Oxfords (painted and game ready) at the same price as Gemkits, then buy all you can now.  Usually these very detailed Oxford models retail at £3.49 + . (about £1 more per item than Gemkit) As I said, very rich for gaming, but hey, they give great eye candy.  GOM as usual has sourced some great links.

Hmm. That Vesta scooter that they have looks like a perfect starting point for this:

Edit: so inserting the link as an image doesn't work. Anyone know why?

EDIT:  Not sure, but it's in now!

1950's French Para's equipment. One scooter with the recoilless rifle, a second one to carry ammo. Apparently some 800 were shipped to Algeria during the conflict there. Don't know if they were used in action. But I think the idea is to dismount first, rather than firing it on the move.  :o

@Leon; Thanks. The width=800 tag does the trick. Probably because it's too big otherwise? Oh, and remind me to never visit Thorntree...
