Title: Italian Wars figures
Post by: tarkus29 on 29 May 2011, 08:17:03 AM
Hi All,
Starting a new project in the way of the Italian Wars around 1520s period and I was wondering if anyone can recommend figures from the Pendraken ranges for the following troop types:
Spanish pike
Spanish Arquebusier
Swiss pike
Italian Arquebusiers
Italian & French pike
Imperial  & French Heavy cavalry/knights
And if anyone has any photos of the Pendraken Landsknechts I would be grateful as I don't even know what the figures look like! Have been through the photos on the Flickr site (twice!) and I have still yet to see any appropriate images!

Hope someone out there can help!

Cheers!

My first 10mm pike and shot were a French and an Imperial army. Look at the Elizabethan range, and some fantasy figures are useful too. I mixed in a few Irregular Miniatures crossbowmen, and converted some Irish LC to genitors by adding filed-down lentils as ardaga shields. If you send me your email I'll be happy to send you a few pics.
Landsknechts aren't the most animated, alas; shouldered arquebus, not shooting. But the swordsman is good.

To re-open this topic, I have used greenstuff to move some mounted knights from the end of the C15th to the early C16th by adding skirts and plumes to give the impression of the Italian Wars gendarme. Thge figure on the left is a Magister Militum barded knight whilst that on the right is an unbarded Pendraken knight.

Think I'll do a few more before too long and then paint them up to see what impression they really give.

Good job, DP. The armoured skirts are particularly effective.
