I got some bits and bobs from Leon to create a regiment to paint up as a test to see if I like the look as I am thinking of leaping into this period

Well, you can't stop at one, can you? Especialy when the first regt looks so pretty.
Now I have created a problem for myself, I like the look and feel of the regiment, so the problem would be when to stop :).
I have created flags for over 30 different infantry regiments each of 5 companies, plus some historical. ECW is one of my favourite periods, but I would want to do big battles not skirmishes.

Good man, go to it! :)
Bloody hell, that was quick! We only posted them a few days ago! :o

On the door mat when I got in on Friday after work, I may be a bit keen for ECW :P
Agree entirely about real battles. As an Austrian wargamer once remarked to me, "500 point battles are for pink pansies." Not very PC, but the sentiment is right on.
Good on yer. Im like you, get exited over a period and go silly on that , then cast assunder all other projects. Figures are nice and a good paint job
Happy days
:)
A small(ish) introductory order was placed today. More pics posted when I get my grubby mitts on them :)
So, next Thursday then?

Haha, not sure if we'll have it sent by then!
Hi sandanista,
loving your work!
what base sizes have you used?
and what rules set will you controlling your - large armies with?
I still have a single army pack, unpainted, at the back of my cabinet. Its criminal, I know.... but your musings are beginning to awaken an ECW need in me. Something to do with having been a pikeman in the London Trained Bands of the Sealed Knot for a number of my 'formative years'!
.....Maybe I should get painting and posting!
The pike are 20 figs on a 40x40mm base, the muskets are 10 figs on a 40x20mm base. It just looks and feels right to me on these size bases. Spending some time researching flags and colours for Yorkshire battles 1642-43, but a bit sketchy. Lots of clubmen for the Fairfax's which will make for fun games against Newcastle's geordie rabble :D
I am planning on using Black Powder initially, but am open to other sets if something come my way that seems good. I "fell in love" with the ECW range when it was released, and have managed to resist until now, so I am selling my 1/72 WW2 forces to finance this, and replacing WW2 in 10mm of course ;)
I was in Marquis of Newcastle's briefly in SK but misspent most of my youth in Sir Thomas Tyldesley's in ECWS as drummer to start with as I was told I was too young (14) to have a pike :(.
And now too old to have a pike ;D ;D :P
