Hi,
I've just received a shiney new copy of Blitzkrieg Commander II. After a quick read-through, I'm looking into building a couple of starter forces, but basically have no idea where to start ...
Looking at the Pendraken Army Packs for BKC, I see there are 1000pt armies already selected.
"Excellent" thinks I. I'll just try and work out how they are structured.
But, looking at BKC10 (British, 1000pts) I see 9 Shermans (75mm). Checking this in the book gives 125pts each, so we're already at 1125pts ????
Am I correct in thinking the army packs are costed for the earlier version of Blitzkrieg Commander? (If not, I'm doing something badly wrong)
And, what's the minimum points cost at which BkC II starts to work? Will the game work with, say, 600pts armies?
Thanks, Martyn
Yes I think the packs are for BKC. The points costs definitely went up in BKC2.
I think you need at least 1500 pts for BKC2, otherwise you will have a very small force.

Yes, I see. I've located a pdf called BKC-Lite, which contains sample US & German armies for 1100 and 900 pts respectively. Re-pointing them for BkC2 gives over 1600pts for the US. I've also worked out the price for doing the US army with Pendraken, and it's just less than the price that GW are asking for their new Tomb Kings army book ...

Don't mind small, just need playable :-).
Cheers, Martyn
It does depend on date and theatre. I've played very effective BKC2 games set in New Guinea with 1000pts each side, but then there's no armour. Also early war games need less points than 1944!!
You're correct about the Pendraken Army Packs being made up for the original BKC points system. BKC II brings point values into line with those used in Cold War Commander ie T34/85s should now cost the same in 1944 as 1954
If you contact Pete at Specialist Military Publications http://www.blitzkrieg-commander.com/Default.aspx (http://www.blitzkrieg-commander.com/Default.aspx) and let him know that you've bought a copy of the rules, he'll arrange access to the Battlegroup Calculator on the website to draw up limited point battle groups free of charge. In exchange for some dosh you can get the unlimited version which allows you to build large battle groups and fiddle around with modifiers, ground scale etc.
We wanted to wait until BKCII had been out for a little while before we changed all the army packs up to the new points system, but then other stuff inevitably got in the way. We will be changing them up, not sure when though.

Heh, no problem. Just caused confusion for a while. Reading a new rulebook is bad enough - then not getting the figures to add up was throwing me :-/
