Title: Non Cast On Camouflage
Post by: johnny boy on 06 May 2011, 10:06:10 AM
I want to add some camo to my models but dont like the cast on stuff.
I have clump foliage and lichen, but again dont like the finished product and am looking for a slightly more realistic material that looks like tree branches.
Does anybody have any suggestions that may work.

Thyme : Do not use the dried foliage but only the branch.

I guess if you live in the "perfide Albion", chances to find wild thyme are reduced, but worth a try.

Yes Dazza, something like that.

Lichen just looks wrong and is quite smelly and the clump folliage that I have just looks like clump foliage stuck to a model.
What do you use to get the effect?
I tried to open the picture to zoom in but was unable to get any closer.

I'll take some close up shots this weekend if I remember.

its mostly shredded clump foilage and static grass.

It definately looks better than what I have seen previously.

Looking forward to your larger pictures.

Works on 6mm - Artex...

Add and paint a suitable shade, but will admit I havnt tried on 10mm.

FAO : Johnny Boy
These are the cast on Camo halftracks and the clump foilage is on top of it, so I've shown one painted, and one added on.

Dazza:

I still don't like the cast on camouflage but admit I never thought of overlaying it with clump foliage. I am looking for a more hastily rammed on tree bits look... a bit like this ....damn how do you attach a photo?
