Title: WW2 US Marines
Post by: nikharwood on 23 April 2011, 11:58:48 AM
Kiwidave & I are going to scrap in the Pacific at Legionary in a couple of weeks time, so I thought I ought to get my Marines painted: so with a bit of quiet time on Thursday night & yesterday I did 'em:

Assembled, bases textured & sealed and then spray-black undercoated:

Basecoat on vehicles: Cayman Green:

At this point I deviated from my normal technique [of painting the bases at this point] & started on the infantry - using as a basecoat the final vehicle mix above:

Highlight: added in further Khaki to lighten:

Nice work Niki! (As usual) and I *knew* you'd get them done in a day or two! My Japs are at the flocking stage.

Have you got any Shermans, coz you'll need some....

Niki?  :o

Day or two? Well, yes - spread over two days but total time of about 5-6 hrs I reckon...

Yep - got the Shermans defrosting [last saw action in the Ardennes  ;)]

Let's see some pics of your Nipponese then :-)>-

Great stuff!  I've been tempted to have a go at some Pacific stuff to make a diorama.

Against the Japanese? Are you allowing them a fully tunnelled bunker system or something?  :-B

I'll be putting the details up on my wiki soonish...

My Japs (WIP): http://kiwidave.pbworks.com/w/page/39365416/BKC%20-%20Japanese%20Infantry

Bizarrely, I really found these difficult to paint, as the Japanese kit is almost all the same colour, so there is not much to make them stand out. Also, our current camera is not as good as our old one at taking pictures of figures, despite having a good macro. Maybe it's my skill as a photographer.....

:D You're right mate - I'm just using them to draw fire while the jarheads sneak up the flank  ;)
