Hi all,
Ive been banging my head against walls of tech and im thoughroly broken.
Im trying to find something that i can read the reams of pdfs ive got, as well as other general file types.
PDF is the main format, and colour is a must.
Aside from teh pricey Ipad, does anyone have any experience with these things or good sugestions.

iPad is great - if price is an issue have a look for first generation ones on eBay now iPad 2 is out. Looks like they are going for around £300 depending on comfiguration. Also have a look at Apple's refurbished offers. I recently got an iPad 2 and it is definitely my preferred computing device.
Kindle - while cheap with a great screen dosen't fit your criteria of colour nor does it do PDFs with images great
Other "slate" style products - not sure but most aren't cheaper than iPads
Netbook - small and light but screen can be a bit small you will do well to get one for under £250

Nice bit of kit at a decent price - it's no iPad2 but for the money it's a bargain I think - I've got it as a work-machine [for my freelance stuff] and for document reading on the move [incl PDFs of course]...

If you're considering spending £400+ I'd go for an iPad in a heartbeat :)

Whats not to love, reads all my rulebooks/novels, runs Office XP, loads of storage for movies, for me its the business! And it didnt break the bank at £174.
