Title: WW II Partisans
Post by: Light Horseman on 12 April 2011, 12:48:26 AM
I am looking for figures for WW II partisans, guerrillas, and resistance fighters. I am particularly interested in portraying Soviet partisans and militia. I am considering the spanish civil war guardia de asalto figures and militia, but most of the Spanish civil war figures look too Spanish. Any other suggestions from Pendraken's line? Franco-Prussian commune or francs tirailleurs perhaps? Russian civil war Red infantry? Any other ideas?

How about the AVBCW range of armed civilians?

Generic 1900-1960 ish in generic European working mens clothes with bolt action rifle, some form of side bag and maybe an arm band is something I have been looking for, for ages. Many many uses.

The spanish civil war range has some useful figures

Assault guards are in light order and have a railway staff like peaked cap

Some of the International Brigaders seem suitable.

Especially any in the passamontano which is a form of peaked balaclava

I'm using those for a bulk of my VBCW militia/LDV

The Boers might be a bit more older fashioned in look.

The bareheaded figure with rifle from the Indo china range (code VM3  ) is also a useful figure.

Thanks for the input. I had missed the British line completely, and will investigate the Spanish civil war figures more closely. I think I'll be able to find enough figures to use, perhaps with some modifications. I just bought some green stuff and am interested to try my hand at some simple conversions.

I have used Boers, SCW, and VBC, plus ww1 brits in greatcoats. Judicious use of a knife (Not stabbing yourself in the leg as I did) plus milliput gives them flat caps. I have used these for IRA in the Irish Civil War.

Thanks all. I've just placed an order for a variety of figures to experiment with. I'll let y'all know how they turn out.
