Title: Train request
Post by: Leman on 07 April 2011, 10:35:15 AM
With regard to the mid/later 19th century ranges, any chance of a European train for this period? About 25 years ago I played a really good 15mm Franco-Prussian game in which the last train in Somewhereville had to get the French general's mistress out before the Prussians took the station or broke the rail link. I'd love to do this again with my 10mm (which have now replaced the 15s in my affections and gaming) as a train would make a great battlefield objective, subject of a Garde Mobile/Francs Tireurs ambush, etc.

DP have you tried looking at model rail suppliers ? 10mm is pretty much the same N Gauge

Have a look at this thread: http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=2171.0

The Del Prado stuff is mostly modern, but includes some earlier locos, including a mid 19th century French one (le Bourbonnais). Also depending on how accurate you want to be, you could use some of the other ones. Ofcourse, you'll still have to find matching cars.

Yeah, I'd probably look at N scale railway items, it would be a lot quicker than waiting on us to get some produced.

Thanks OldenBUA, I have a Le Bourbonnais on the way. May well get the French general's mistress away now (don't tell anyone else but she looks very much like Keira Knightly).

Glad to help, and I hope shipping a steam loco wasn't too expensive!

Oh, and before 'anyone else' shows up, please take pics (especially of Ms Knightly) when you're all set up with your little escapade. We like pics!

Now I've got a decent camera that shouldn't be a problem. also got a very good model shop just over a mile away so should be able to get some rolling stock and rails. Again, thanks for the suggestion - it only came to £12. :)

For a smaller unpowered loco. try putting 'shredded wheat' into ebay, there was a commemorative n scale loco produced which is reasonably prices. Needs its coupling modifying to pull standard wagons tho.
