Title: Hi from Birmingham, UK
Post by: Graleth on 04 April 2011, 07:29:58 PM
Hey folks,
I am a relative newcomer to wargaming, having just been to a club for a few months, I do like the social atmosphere and fun of a regular group, but work tends to get in the way. I have done role playing before (mainly Dungeons & Dragons), but I have been out of it for a while.

Regards,

Graleth

Fantasy goodies as well, be still my beating heart. I can see I am going to need a bigger house.

Hey NIk,
Nope, 10 mm is not that big, but combined with hobbies of Astronomy, Metal detecting ,photography, Genealogy, Palaeontology, Art, Music Computing, walking and all of the magazines and books that go with them, I have to go outside to breathe out.  ;)

Yep,
All I need now is an extra 10 hours or so in the day so I can fit them all in. ;)

Try giving up sleeping more than 4 hours a day, it's a start  ;)

Ah yes, sleep, beastly habit, trying to give it up, almost as annoying as work for stopping you enjoying yourself.

Welllllllll.
I was thinking you could combine hobbies....
if you went out at night for a walk you could take your metal detector and telescope with you, wander about with the earphones in and if you either see something interesting up there, or hear something interesting down there you could deploy the necessary tools for the job :D

Good idea in theory,
In fact, I did overstay my time on a local farm once when I was Metal Detecting in the dark, somebody spotted me and they sent one of the farm hands over to make sure I had permission to be there. I explained that I had come from work just to get a few hours in and had just carried on when it had got dark, since I had a torch with me. He was very friendly about it.

I trust you do this in liaison with the local archaeological community and you're not simply a nighthawk plundering our archeological heritage?   :-\

Hi Luddite,
You will be pleased to know that i'm a fully paid up member of the Federation of Independent Detectorists (FID), Public Liability Insurance £5,000,000. I've not had need to call on my local Finds Liason Officer (FLO),(because I only find late artifacts (and junk), but I do know where they can be found. The nations treasures are safe with me.
