I attended COLOURS at the weekend, as I have since its days in the Hexagon in Reading.
I had no real objectives in that I didn't have figures or books to collect from various traders, I usually have a hefty package to pickup from from the Pendraken stand. I had a look at Paul Meakin and David Lanchester's book stands but nothing really took my attention. As I remarked to David, when you've been doing this for as long as we have, you tend to have most of what you need.
I generally browsed around and debated whether to buy some "marsh/swamp" bases from Coriatani. In the end I didn't, which was just as well as this morning I found the three bases I bought last year and had forgotten about. In the end my purchases amounted to two Kolinsky sable brushes from ABC Brushes, as a trial purchase, and a bottle of Vallejo gold paint.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed my trip and the show seemed quite busy to me. The games all looked as though proper effort had been put into them and looked very effective.
On the downside, I caught up in the massive delays caused by a trackside fire between Paddington and Reading; I couldn't believe that it had happened again. Returning home after the 2023 show there were huge delays and, after spending an hour and a half stranded at Maidenhead, I paid about £100 for an Uber back to Enfield in North London. Fortunately, being still at Reading, I was able to board a Reading to Waterloo train after the Information desk had confirmed that my Freedom Pass would be valid as there was no other reasonable route.
