Managed to get in a game of FoB3 with my 6mm French and Austrians. The scenario centered around an Austrian delaying force under Field Marshal Montenuouvo trying to slow the advance of the French as the remainder of the Austrian force retreated to the safety provided by fortresses of the Quadrilateral.
For the French commander, General LaMotte-Rouge, the French objectives were to 1) drive the Austrians forces from two farmsteads and 2) push the Austrians from the field of battle. To accomplish this, the French had two brigades of infantry (one of line and the other comprised of zouaves and foreign legion) with artillery attachments and a small brigade of cavalry.

The ensuing battle played out along historical lines; Austrian ineptitude (my poor tactics, bad rolling and unfortunate card draws) coupled with French effective aggression led to the Austrians being driven from their defensive positions and forced from the field of battle.

I was outgeneraled, drew bad cards and rolled bad dice. Felt like a proper Austrian commander circa 1859.
I felt helpless with the panicked mass of infantry packed into that valley and I neither had the cards nor the dice to rally them, get them deployed and get them out....with French cavalry ready to pounce
A great looking game. Admire your 6mm figures.
I've bought Battlefield Command in pdf as a result of reading this!
I've got some 10mm 1859 Austrians and Piedmontese and 1870 French which I can use, as well as 10mm SYW figures.

Edward, I would love to hear what you think of Battle Command if you get it out on the tabletop. I own it but haven't tried it out yet.
