Title: Lead Adventure Forum outage
Post by: pierre the shy on 09 May 2026, 12:29:02 AM
Anyone know what is happening over at LAF?

Haven't been able to get in for days now. Got a message saying they were changing servers to begin with but now any link to the LAF site on any browser I use just times out.

Have they run into IT platform change issues or are they just waiting for a wapping amount of TB's of peoples pictures to copy across?  :-\

They are upgrading, moving server and moving to a new IT team. IIRC WSS are taking over the running of the system and planning an upgrade to the look and feel.

I will confess I had expected the transition to be done by now.

Thank you Ithoriel.

Hopefully they'll be back soon in their new guise.

From Northstar Facebook page

Open Message to the Lead Adventurers out there.
We're just waiting for confirmation from the Domain Hosts that the transfer has gone through. It could be in the next 10 minutes, it could be tomorrow.
We'll let you know!!
+++UPDATE+++
8th May. The forum is somewhere between Servers. At the latest it will be Tuesday before it's live, we're hoping for sooner.

the old URL worked for me (in a tab that has been open during the whole outage)

But when viewing the site it has an odd holding URL still. Some domain name movements still taking place - not really sure why this has been such a lengthy process. Whilst DNS can take a while to propagate the core DNS providers tend to update very quickly - feels this has been more the move between hosting providers.

I can't remember what my login and email were and I'm not sure the old login and email would still work.

Old URL works again now, for me anyway.

They have removed members who registered  but then never interacted with the site again. As far as I'm aware all other memberships are still active. Further culls of those who have not visited the site in a matter of years seems to be on the cards though.

I could PM the Administrator for you, if you like, and see if he can help.
