So,
I find myself in an unusual place, painting wise.
I have just finished a longer term commission. Now have no idea what to paint.
Okay, I have two commissions to finish and two for a mate to start. But otherwise, for myself, no clue.
I used to use painting as my wind down after teaching,but with my new (gods it's over two years now) job finishing later, not much gets done in the evenings, and I don't need the wind down as the new job is really relaxed.
Plus there are no 'big projects' or 'new rules at the club' I'm really into at the moment. So no incentive there
Thankfully I've got a week in The Lakes this week, so inspiration may strike, like a field of daffodils.
You have my sympathies.
What about something completely different.
A new period. The Pendraken 10mm AWI are very lovely & it is a 'contained' period ... just a thought :)
Already got both sides on the AWI.
Although I do need to think about rebasing them!
I don't suppose you'd like to paint a couple of 6mm Chinese armies for me so I can fight Taiping Rebellion battles, would you? They'd provide some colour and variety. (I'd have gone for 10mm this time but can't see suitable figures in the range.)
I had a huge amount of fun building armies for the Irregular Wars rules in 10mm.
You'll say that Pendraken has few ranges for 1500-1700 age of exploration and early colonial matters.
I used a lot of proxies, because paint is the ultimate conversion tool in 10mm.
* Ancient warriors, the worse armed and dressed sort of Indian Mutineers, Renaissance figures, 18th century fortress guns, pirates, Colonial figures....
* The League of Augsberg contain some excellent proxies for European Gentlemen in fancy hats.
Somewhere on this forum is a list of potential proxies, possibly a pinned item.
If you ever have an overwhelming urge to paint 10mm ECW, remember I'm only just down the road! ;D
