Title: 15mm Beja Camels?
Post by: Big Insect on 13 August 2025, 09:09:29 PM
Hi all.
Another fringe question for the 'hive mind'.
I am looking for a manufacturer of 15mm Beja or Hadendoa camel riders (& camels).More african looking than Arab.
There are plenty of turbaned, capped or bare headed Sudanese type models on the market (Essex do a lovely pack) but "they are not the camels I am looking for"!
I was pointed towards the Lancashire Games 18mm range & they were perfect for what I was looking for, but they are closer to 20mm than 15mm.
Anyway. I just thought I'd ask.
Cheers
Mark (F)

Easy, used both the following as Tuaregs in my Nigerian Hausa forces
Old Glory via Timecast

Three different types.

Or Forged in Battle camel riders

Thankyou

Good thinking, but sadly they are all far too 'araby'. Turbans & robes.

What I am looking for are your proper Corporal Jones - 'fuzzy-wuzzys' on camels, in loin cloths.
I have a mass of the minifigs 15mm infantry, which I use as ancient Beja, but have been missing my camel contingent, so far.

They do Camel riders in skullcaps in their Colonial range too.

I have some, 9 bareheaded fuzzy-wuzzies, 2 with turban, 1 with skull cap, already painted, I think they are Blue Moon or archived proper 15mm Lancashire Games.

If you want them PM me your address and I'll post 'em out to you, they're no use to me.

Yes, the sculptor who did what are now archived range
https://www.lancashiregames.com/lg/the-archive.html
was very good, but he fell ill before completing all the ranges. If people look at the 1792 Rev. war Austrians and Prussians, they are some of the nicest 15mm sculpts around. Unfortunately the replacement sculptor could only do fat 18mm figures, so all their current releases are completely incompatible with their archived 15mm, and don't really fit in with anybody elses' 15/18mm either.
Such a shame, and this is one reason why I packed in 15mm, because even though I had helped Lanc Games with some figure designs I wanted (Cairo Janissaries, Mamelukes, Tibetans) they were just too huge to use.
Unfortunately I don't think I'll see Cairo Janissaries, Egyptian/Syrian Mamelukes and Tibetans in 10mm in my lifetime....
